I use it once in a rare while if I'm just need a quick adjustment to something. Faster than loading up zb and sending over, then sending back and all that.

But mostly I use zb for any real morphing work.

But a lot of folks here don't have zb, or don't use another sculpting program, so in that case, the morph brush comes in handy.

Also, a pen tablet is useful for painting weight maps.

kljpmsd ( ) posted Fri, 24 April 2015 at 6:11 AM

I don't remember a time when I didn't have a Wacom tablet.  I use Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender and Poser both professionally at work and for all manner of sick, twisted, perverted and just plain messed-up stuff at home.  A couple of years ago I added a 3D mouse from 3Dconnexion to my toolbox.  A tablet takes some getting used to and I won't comment on whether or not it's faster but it's sure a hell of a lot more comfortable if you spend the best part of your day on a computer pushing pixels around the screens.

Confirm kljpmsd's experience.

I use an A5 Wacom Intuos Pen&Touch and a 3DConnexion Space Navigator and for the World I would not want to miss either of them. The morph brush is a stupid dumb thing without the tablet. The 3D mouse is just so much more convenient for navigation.  When you are low on $$ buy the 3D mouse first.

The tablet helped me to bring down pain in wrist and fingers, that is: I have far less trouble. That's also why I did choose the touch version: It gives more diversity in finger/hand movement.

 What is a 3d Mouse?

Basically it is a joystick you can also twist and move. If you have one and you choose the colly cam it does exactly as you would expect. Main cam and other cams show their expeced behaviour also.

Yes but there appear to be issues with it. I had a Bamboo also and never got it really to be pressure sensitive; not in Photoshop and not in Poser.  When I accidentally spoiled some tea over it and it died I bought the Intuos and there is a world of difference. Maybe today's Bamboos do better, however.

Confusion: Different products, Same name. Apparently the previous Bamboo line is still available in Asia.

My tea sprinkled and sadly died Bamboo was a CTH-470 and I purchased it because it was pressure sensitive. I used a Sapphire at the time, not presssure sensitive, but wanted to use the morph brush. I blamed Poser for not reacting with presure response.

If you want to continue with the thread, by all means please do so, just stay out of what doesn't involve you.

Perhaps I should try a little obm890-style insolence on you, and ask if you need pictures to understnd that properly?  You can stop pretending to have me on ignore now.  I think we all know that you only said that so that you can escape having to reply to the inevitable response you're reading right now.  Now then, I think you should both try to behave and discuss the tablet sensitivity without the uncalled for insolence towards RorrKonn.

Don't make me post pictures in order to spell it out to you, words should be good enough.

I was just trying to be helpful and informative.

being we are on a English forum and if I google Wacom

it goes here http://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/navigation/bamboo-pad-wireless

this is the bamboo I was talking about.

have no idea about this Wacom or where to even find one like that.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGU_zpbd1kw

didn't know there was a Asian English site like this

https://www.wacom.asia/en/bamboo-tablets/compare

but they don't look like these banboos

http://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/navigation/bamboo-pad-wireless

https://www.wacom.asia/en/bamboo-tablets/compare
looks more like

http://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-tablets/intuos-pen-and-touch-small

to me

Pressure Levels 2048, both pen tip and eraser
Tilt Recognition ±60 levels

tells me some thing

"Express yourself naturally with the pressure-sensitive digital stylus. "

and
"Stylus Type: Pressure-sensitive, cordless, battery-free"

isn't telling me anything so it don't count.
so if wacom can't be bother to tell me some facts, don't bother.
for all I know Pressure Levels are 32.

I told arrow1 they suggest a cintiq or a intuos pro medium or better for zBrush.

Please stop with the personal attacks.

As for pressure sensitivity, every wacom tablet I've ever used had that feature. Back in school we had an older generation of the Intuos pro tablets (were new at the time tho). I also used an old graphire 4 for about 10 years with z-brush (that was the pre-cursor to the bamboo), and the pressure sensitivity on it was just fine. I upgraded to the Intuos Pro pen & touch medium last year cause I wanted more features and a larger work area - it has a lot more pressure sensitivity in it than the graphire had so it took a bit of getting used to it.

The thing I don't like about my Intuos is that after not even that long of using it, you wind up wearing down the paper grain texture of the surface, so it leaves a large shiny spot in the area that your hand rests most of the time that no amount of buffing will get rid of. It doesn't affect the function of the tablet, and the change in texture isn't all that noticeable while working, it just looks crappy, like a big oily spot right there. I don't know if there are protective covers to prevent that. Would be nice, but then defeats the purpose of having a paper grain on the surface.

Roxie said that if it wasn't for the kickass UK Metal and Rock bands you listen to, you would be listening to this song instead.

She said that all Poser users would be listening to it for the same reason, that you all like playing with virtual Barbie dolls.  Now I'm not saying I agree with her on that one, but it makes some sense I suppose.  Anyway, check-out the wrist action from Barbie, no wonder Ken likes her!

@Arrow1
I feel like I've invaded your thread, so I want to say at least something useful on the subject of sensitivity.  Basically, be careful about getting sucked into large sums of money for a Wacom branded tablet just because of the sensitivity.  There are are tablets out there that can be bought for next to nothing that have the same sensitivity as the Pro versions of the Wacom models.  I've seen them on Amazon a few times and was going to buy one myself.  The only reason I didn't is because I'm not sure whether the drivers will run under a Linux-based system.  I know the Wacom models work under Linux, and believe me, that's the only reason I'll be paying a premium for a Wacom.

@RorrKonn
Cool videos, but I dunno, I think you might be wrong about Barbie.  You might not realise this, when she's Barbie she's basically a Rock Chick in disguise!
She had a tattoo featuring a RorrKonn skull, and even in the Barbie video, that same tattoo is clealy visible in some of the shots.

Not only that, Roxie likes her spikey Rock Jacket, and check-out the t-shirt as well which is a bit of a give-away I think ;-)
Anyway, we'd better get back on-topic otherwise Mr Shane will get angry.

I'm sure I don't know what you mean, RorrKonn, among other things ;-)
Ok, I'm kidding, I do, I think Barbie is hot as well, there I said it.

BTW, I don't know why it's doing it, but the forum has started stripping images from posts again.  I posted an image showing-off her RorrKonn-style tattoo but the forum appears to have eaten it.  Posted directly this time, maybe it doesn't like links.  And that pose in the second photo looks very much like the pose from that artwork you did, the one with the heart.

Anyway, that's your lot, I don't want you getting over excited over Barbie, so this is the last bit of titilation I'm posting for you this week :-D
