Subject: My Issue with this Issue!!!

pumeco ( ) posted Fri, 01 May 2015 at 5:49 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 9:01 PM

Yeah, listen Rendo, I have got a complaint!!!

I noticed when peeps start a new thread, it says "Username opened this issue on Date" !!!
Why is it an issue???
This is not a bug tracker!!!

It should say "Username started this thread on Date" !!!

Like right now, it says this thread is an issue, and yeah, it is this time, but normally it's not an issue!!!
So yeah, it all sounds a bit dumbass to me, so I've got an issue with this issue!!!

I will remove my avatar again if you don't fix it!!!

I wondered about that, too.  It's been that way for several months. Perhaps it explains the griping in the Forum recently... :)

There's only one small little detail of a issue. The read the same book as the DAZ " soon ".

Perhaps they even are on the same chapter, or they all went on vacation?
Just waiting for us to SHUT up.

See?

No complaints any more, so all must be very well here.

Yes, yes, yes, one spriet other zes.
But only if they are green as grass.
Well yellow went with the vertex and red with Santa, so there is not a lot left huh

oh? Is blue waiting around the corner?
How come?
is there still a corner that is working here???

Hey ??

You missed a corner.....??
Something still seems to work...

Man, man, man, you are a naughty boy.

When posting, you get the strangest results possible.

I think the term 'issue' is fine, since the word has multiple meanings and uses. In this instance it's interchangeable with the words 'topic' or 'discussion'.

'Issue' could also mean 'problem', which is relevant too since a lot of the threads here deal with specific problems people are looking for answers to. 'Issue' just sounds better than 'problem'.

R_Hatch ( ) posted Sat, 02 May 2015 at 10:38 PM

I tried to sell a guy a car. He didn't like that it had no wheels, but I told him I thought its having no wheels was fine, because that just meant he could buy whatever wheels he liked.

Explaining/excusing problems is not fixing problems. As Geordi La Forge once said in an episode of TNG: "But you don't have to take my word for it."

aRtBee ( ) posted Sun, 03 May 2015 at 3:09 AM

When you don't know where to go, you don't need wheels at all. When you do know where to go, you might not need a car.

So the first "issue" is: why are you in this forum in the first place? To show off your nice personality? To show off your magnificent Poser skills? To twit around and show your frustration and lack of anger management skills? Because you need a wailing wall and no one else is listening to poor you?

This is the Poser forum, where people can seek help and inspiration in handling their Poser software (any version) and some closely related stuff like content and plugin-kit. This is not the "I can't handle the Rendo site" forum, nor the "I can't stand those stupid (whatever) ..." chatroom.

So please dear moderators, whipe this place clean and make it a warm place to be for me again. Please allow constructive Poser related postings only (on SW flaws one can communicate in constructive manners too!), and put all the other "issues" somewhere else. Otherwise, I'm moving out gradually as well. Not due to anything Rendo but just due to the high levels of negativity around. I see enough misery around in my Real Life, I don't need it as part of my hobby.

Cheers.

First off, did everyone get out of bed on the wrong side this morning?
Second, stop addressing me when it's Roxie that posted!

If anyone needs to shut-up whining, it's some of those responding here.  Roxie made a good point, got a reply, and even thanked those who replied, which is something the less courteous of you seem incapable of doing.  The only "whining" I can see going on here is from aRtBee and Vilters!

Roxie is right, it should be called a "thread", not an "issue" - despite the illogical nonsense Shane just posted (typical).  We're not numbers, we're not robots, we're people, so "issue" is too formal a word for a thread.  It's a thread, so call it a "thread", simple really.  And no, the forum does not need cleaning of casual posts, this place is a "Community", not a lending library where no one dares to cough for fear of making an unwanted noise.  Those "dry" and "formal" sort of people with no humour should stick to being a number with an associated ID, and go play with their iPads or whatever other form of formal control they abide by.

So lighten-up, I don't come here to read miserabe, formal posts on a comminuty run like a concentration camp.  Roxie is currently out culling figures from the competition, but she tells me that aRtBee is now on her dumbass list along with Shane, and if anyone wants to join them, feel free to speak up.

Go bore someone else,
Cheers.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the whining, but I do mind the whining in the Poser forum. As your issue might be just a thread, but it's certainly not Poser.

Because this is NOT a community but the Poser section in the Software part of that, and this community offers other places for other purposes. I don't ask you to stop, and I don't ask the moderators to delete anything from Rendo. I just ask you to perform your acts somewhere else, and ask the moderators to help with that. We've got a Suggestions forum, for instance.

Like I'm in great favor of freedom of speech, but I don't like you speeching out loud in the reading room of the public library. Because when you do (frequenty), and no moderators intervene, I'm forced to do my reading somewhere else. And that's not what the reading room was established for, when they also offer a nice Hall or Park for your outings.

all the best, have fun with your lists,

You do have a point, one thread was moved to the community center forum which is how I found out that another issue was credit card hacking.  I guess that is where the 'issues' should be taken. I think a lot landed on the Poser forum because it is one of, if not the most popular, forum and one of the 'issues' were the number of people leaving that were regular, and valued, contributors to the Poser forum.  It is a concern though that you, one of the valued and regular contributors, is dismayed at how the forum is used.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

aRtBee ( ) posted Sun, 03 May 2015 at 7:49 AM

Hornet, thanks.

My general "issue" with the forum is its Poser overload indeed. Let's put it in perspective: when you've got a budget, start detailing, and 90% of it ends up a one post of it, then there is not much point in the detailing is it? You'd better detail that single 90% line. Same with Poser in the Rendo forum. It takes say 90% of it, and just for that reason alone I'm in great favor of splitting it up. Let them make it room oriented or whatever.

Now the Poser forum is popular because everyone is posting everything in there because it's popular because ... (etcetera), and so we've ended up with a garbage bin where effectively all the other threads in all other Rendo forums can be dumped as well.

So, yes I fully understand why things are happening but that doen's mean I'm happy with it.

At the content side of the forum I'm in dubio. Of course it's actually a compliment that people feel the Rendo forum as a place to dump their frustrations on anything. It's good to have a wailing wall at hand. On the other hand, it's not that funny to have to wade through all this wailing for the forum users who do not need all this, and actually prefer to do without for their own personal reasons. So perhaps some splitting up can help here as well.

Next to all that, I'm seriously raising a red flag. It's not (only) the fulminating, negative and frustrated people that go away or threaten to do so. It's also the same people that do not go away but go on and on and on (and moderators not intervening), that drive the positive and contructive users out. I hope Rendo is aware.

In my early consulting days, I learned that more and more of the same medicine wont work. If your appraoch doesn't work, then do something else.
So I read Vilters post, saying "they are not responding" (to the fulminations, and the loud accusations, etc, in the Poser forum). Well then, stop it, and do it in a different way. Would be my suggestion.

All the best.

Believe it or not (and like it or not), it tends to be the 'off the wall' and argumentative threads that keep any form of life around here.  The amount of views those threads get is proof of that.  I take a lot of notice of how popular certain threads are and what thread title is attached to them.  When Roxie started this thread it got three times more views by the time it got just one reply, than a "Poser" related thread got after receiving three replies.  That shows there was far more interest in this thread than a "Poser" thread that was started around the same time.  The reason is simple, it's the title, and people viewed it thinking it was going to be another juicy slanging match.

The sort of threads you want to shove-off to somewhere they don't get read are actually a benefit to communities like these, because when the forum is going through a quiet spell, there's still something else to come back to the forum for, whether that be a good old whine or a bit of fun.  And because people get involved in these threads, people are logging in to read the replies, and because they're logged in, they see other threads, "Poser related" threads that need attention.  It behaves is a sort of reciprocal fashion - it's a kind of ecosystem I suppose.

So while you think people don't like these threads, the statistics prove otherwise, and believe me, the decline of this forum has nothing to do with me, or with Roxie shooting her mouth off either.  The only people who say such things are those that have an issue with me (or Roxie).  As Vilters points out, it's the disfunctional state of the forum that is to blame.  I personally think it's also down to the complete lack of Poser related events:

  • Where's the Poser rendering competitions?
  • Where's the Poser animation competitions?

Even if there's no prize, people still like to play around at stuff like that, to challenge themselves and improve their slills.  Perhaps if there was some of that going on around here, things might start looking up a bit more.

aRtBee ( ) posted Sun, 03 May 2015 at 10:02 AM

when in the 70's the birth rates went down in Europe, the stork population went down as well while the use of refrigerators went up. So either storks do deliver babys or people appreciate a good snack over good sex. Or, as Churchill said: you've got lies, damn lies and statistics. Same with the Rendo forum. In a large scale investigation I performed for the Rendo FAQ project, I found that threads on materials contained twice as much posts as average. Why? Not because people were more involved but because a statement on materials requires images, and in those days Rendo supported only one image per post so a single statement required more posts to make.

When your line of thinking is followed, all forums should be merged into one. Which is fine to me, but it's just not the case.

And I do know some people face some "issues" when dealing with the forum software. Actually, I don't. Cutting and pasting works fine except when using IE, adding content to a post works fine by just putting that content on my site or in Dropbox and including a link to it in the post, and when the post does not appear at once I only click F5 to refresh.  Perhaps all are good reasons to swear every now and then, I feel with you.

My simple request is: just don't do it over and over again in the Poser forum. As statistics never prove anything (they only can show some assumptions are unlikely), and I never said that people (in general) did not like to see other people knocking each other out. My point is that some people don't like it when they come in for Poser related stuff only, and they deserve a place on Earth too.

That's why I suggested to do the non-Poser topics in a non-Poser corner of Rendo. From your logic, it might be a shear hit. Good! And still there will be people not visiting it, as there are still people not visiting the Poser forum for the simple reason: they don't do Poser (but Vue, fractals, Photoshop, ...). And I don't do negativity towards other people, for good personal reasons. I don't put them on lists either. So I do claim the rights to be, at Rendo too.

You're fully entitled to do negativity without Poser. I'm not stopping you, I'm just asking you to do it somewhere else.
I'm entitled to do Poser without negativity. You are hindering me with that! Stop it.

When you want competitions without prizes, then start one. It's done before. Or whine about other people not starting them. I don't mind. Just don't do it in the Poser forum, so I can have a nice place to be too.

Without being negative I think a lot of people already separate out Poser posts, for example it the title is to do with animation I never look at the thread.  That does not mean Poser users should not post about animation, it but it is not what I use poser for.  I do tend to look at the Paint Shop Pro and Vue forms but they are very quiet, which is part of the problem.  If someone has a problem with Poser scenes imported into Vue they will post in the Poser forum and probably not bother with the Vue forum for the simple reason more people will see it in the Poser forum.

As to the assumption that argumentative threads and the like draw people, well that could well be flawed.  For example I often follow the Genesis threads and we all know where most of those lead and from that you could make the assumption I like the aggravation.   Trouble is that would be wrong, I don't like it so I have the people who are good at the childish arguments on ignore and just try to follow the rational advice.

I'm not even going to bother debating this, seriously, it's just hilarious.  Compared to most regular posters around here I've barely said a bloody thing about the state of the forum, and actually, I'm more content to just sit back and laugh my bloody head off at the rest of you most of the time!  Most of the heated stuff I post around here is brought about by stuff that is said to me by ignorant people, so the problem there isn't me complaining, it's people thinking they can say whatever they like and just expect to let it go ignored.  Shane, Wiz (good riddance), and a whole bunch of others I could do without, but unlike you, I don't go around posting stuff that is effectively telling them to leave the forum.  So no, I won't leave the forum, you're the one with the problem, so you leave instead if you're truly bothered by it.

There are "well behaved" forums out there for Poser, so if that's important to you, there's nothing stopping you using them.
Oh but wait ... they're not very popular those forums, are they? ... I wonder why?

So you see, while you might come here solely to research the latest Poser goodies or learn from Baggins latest material experiments etc, some of us come here for that and more besides.  Personally, I come here for Poser, to see what the technical people are up to.  To watch Clarkie struggle and discover more and more Blender the more he creates.  To nosey at Vilters' latest figure tricks.  To see if RorrKonn has a new babe in the works.  To laugh at the incompetence and sheer pointlessness of surveys ...

... and to laugh when Roxie gets up people's noses, just like she has done here :-D

I'm just glad Baggins hasn't jumped ship yet.

I'm most comfortable posting here (as primorge, also) even though I'm severely handicapped in the contribution department for the time being (I make all of my stuff on an old Mac which isn't set up for Wi-Fi, the house I live in is a Wi-Fi environment). I'm not about to go out and buy a less than satisfactory, comparably, current windows machine just to upgrade poser when I'm completely comfortable with all of my other, more powerful, software on my decade old, completely reliable, machine. Just to clarify, this is not a windows bash, more of a financial issue.

Limitations have empowered me to learn aspects of Poser that many casual users consider black magic. Not to mention, even with "archaic" old Poser 8 there's enough projects and intricacies to keep me busy until Poser becomes Maya.

Well there's a little, pointless probably, of my backstory...

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is, regardless of the problems that the forum is undergoing, this is still my preferred Poser information resource. I can cope with the technical hiccups because I'm practiced at dealing with adversity.

Don't go aRtBee.

And to those who continually threaten to leave, contribute nothing, and then come back to spew broken record, diaper-needs-changing, egocentric vitriol...

Get on with it then.

(But yeah, the comical spectacle can be kinda entertaining in a Springer show kinda way)

Don't need to take a deep breath, I don't have a problem, aRtBee does, as does 'Sergeant Shane' by the sounds of it.  Kinda hard to enjoy a forum when people keep going-on and jumping down people's throats like that.  You only have to look at the original post and the first three replies to see that Roxie was perfectly content with the answer you already gave.

All the rest has been heaped onto it, and now I'm getting the blame for it (as usual).

Boni ( ) posted Sun, 03 May 2015 at 1:32 PM
