Subject: Simple Question

I'm curious if there are Poser users out there who still use V3.

I still use her sometimes and also hybrids like V3body/V4 head or the opposite.  With SSS, IDL, polygon smoothing and all the advances in Poser these older characters can actually look really good!

cedarwolf ( ) posted Thu, 14 May 2015 at 12:14 PM

I do occasionally because I have so much stuff for her.  I tried using some of the V3 clothing in Studio, and even with the autofit, it didn't.  Too bad there aren't updates available on most of her stuff.

V3? Not so much. A3 and M3, a lot.

Yes, I still do and enjoy using her:)

No.  Didn't re-install any Gen3s after the hard drive crash.

booksbydavid ( ) posted Sun, 17 May 2015 at 12:07 AM

Yes, still march out V3 for use. Also, Aiko3 and Stephanie3. Still useful, still like them. :)

I use V3 a lot.     She still has one of the highest poly count face meshes out there

I use her now and then.  JoePublic did an excellent free open-source weightmapped version, which is hosted by BasicWiz...

People are still downloading V3 clothing from my site, and I use her myself quite often. The reduced resolution V3 is very useful for secondary characters, but is actually good enough for close renders most of the time if polygon smoothing is turned on. I'm using her for a project at the moment.

Absolutely! Got a ton of clothing and morphs for her and a custom character that I made for her that is one of my go to characters.

Absolutely!  I still use V3 regularly and it is still an important character in my character stable. I didn't know there was a low resolution version and would like to get my hands on it, especially if standard V3 clothing will fit on the lo-res version.

V3 (and A3 M3 Variants - I consider in the same category) have/has some advantages over V4 and because the figure is an earlier generation often helps to lower the size of scenes.  I have a lot of items with cross support for V3.

V3 gives some visual relief to a scene with V4 characters as it is slightly different and I think it is still a good strong mesh.

Good prices on sales in the last couple of years have led me to pick up a lot of stuff for V3, and it is the 'stuff' too that is important.

Boni ( ) posted Sun, 24 May 2015 at 9:48 PM

Same here, I use her regularly, as well as Stephanie 3, David3 and Micael 3.  There are some features that they have that aren't available on the newer models, like jointed toes and showing the tenders in the hands. ... just as examples.

i do, i do, i do... or i will, or something...  funny i find this because i plan to be dusting the ol' gal off shortly as i always found her to have a certain charm that is wanting in the subsequent gens...

The 3Dcheapskate* occasionally posts sensible stuff. Usually by accident.
And it usually uses Poser 11, with units set to inches. Except when it's using Poser 6 or PP2014, or when its units are set to PNU.

*also available in ShareCG, DAZ, and HiveWire3D flavours (the DeviantArt and CGBytes flavour have been discontinued).

bluecity ( ) posted Fri, 29 May 2015 at 4:01 AM

Absolutely; V3 with "modern" updates/content is still my go-to base figure; I use her almost exclusively. Whenever I find V3 content, I snap it up. Still plenty of life left in the old gal if people would still support her.

scottl ( ) posted Fri, 05 June 2015 at 7:12 PM

I do to add into Vue, usually its not a closeup or detail and mostly just for the outfit/armor...

mrsparky ( ) posted Fri, 19 June 2015 at 6:29 PM

Dang yea. Can't be bothered with all that nonsense of importers, or b*ggering around with loads of morphs just to make some simple clothing fit.

With V3, it's load up, add some poses and clothes (choosing from the 1000's of bits out there compared to other figures), conform.

Like Scotti I'll usually render in vue, or ask someone to render it in something that can handle HDR light sources  and SSS like keyshot and the results are easily equal to - often miles better - than what the core apps can do.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
