Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 1:45 am)
There are various ways. If Cybertenko's promo says you can mirror the prop, the first thing I'd look for would be a mirrored option in the library - but I'll assume you did that.
There are utilities you can buy that will mirror any content that includes geometry. Dimension3D's Content Mirror is one - I haven't tried it, but I'd recommend his stuff in general and I'm sure this works as well as everything he makes.
Alternatively you can mirror the item's geometry in a modeller or a free utility such as STOMP. This may involve messing with the textures, for example if they include text or other stuff that can't be mirrored. Figures probably require more attention to detail than props.
If you bought the item from Renderosity, you're allowed to tell us which one it was. That might help. Somebody here might even have it themselves and be able to give first-hand advice. :)
Ahem.
Set the XScale to -100%. (or if you want to mirror along Y or Z, use those scales at -100%)
Open the Group Tool. If there isn't a group that includes all polygons, then make a new group, and add "All" of the polygons.
Click the "Reverse Group Normals" button.
No need for scripts or external modeling. Note this doesn't work for figures, just props.

Here is the image link. It refers to the new Sci-Fi Villa. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=110162
The promo says additional (mirrored) habitat module prop is used.
Now then, since it is a prop, I'll go with bagginsbill suggestion. And give it a try. I'll post my results and we'll go from there. Of course D3D has a nice paid solution. He's very talented and very helpful with his products but let's do it by hand because I am incredibly cheap! ;D
In the props folder (Cybertentko - Sci-Fi Villa) for the villa there is a mirrored version of the Habitat plus versions of the landing platform and recreation module allowing you to build a complex structure.
Just load the main structure from the characters library and then the habitat prop and then hide the Recreational Module as in the promo.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
There it is! The Props are located in a Cybertenko Props folder. The Actual villa isn't located in a Cybertenko folder. It's just Sci-Fi Villa. I had been working with only the mirror props because there was no cybertenko character folder. A closer examination of the runtime showed Hornet3d is right. I still might practice on another prop but for now I can make the sci-fi dream apartment.
Thanks for your help! All of you.

Yep, I was caught out in a similar way in that I went looking for a figure in the Cybertenko character library, there is a folder that as I have more of his work but no Villa. I used the readme to find out where the villa was installed. Serves me right for just copying the runtime from the zip without looking. Still if you had not asked the question I would not have learnt Bagginsbill's trick, so I am glad you did. Have fun with the Villa.

Villa works well in a Vue.

tried xscale -100 on bag-o-chips prop in P8 but it didn't work. wouldn't let me go below 0 even after changing settings for min scale and changing forcelimits to 0.
maybe it works in PP2014, but I ain't tried it.
Interesting, I have tried it on a dozen props in PP2014 with mixed results. In the main it works but it depends on the prop, In two instances it has a strange effect, like the bed that has a thick cover which is convex but becomes concave after the change. Likewise a trolley that has has pads on it they become indented after the change.

I just tried in pp2012 and the things I tried wouldn't go past 0. I can't try pp2014 now because I have a render going. I did successfully try in to past and I believe one of the props was the same. Perhaps it's something new to 2014.

I tried it with a bunch of primitives as well as random other props (glasses, houses, etc.)
None of them worked.
Even edited "min" settings in the pp2 files manually, but to no avail.
It looks like the scale "min 0.100" setting is hard coded in PP2014.
Didn't try in PP2012 or earlier versions yet because I don't have them installed on this new machine already.

PP2014 here. When I tried to make X -100 the prop would squish down, then back again and flip around so as to be facing away from the camera. The camera controls were somehow flipped by this as well so rotating the camera would give the opposite result.

Just playing around before I start my next render. I set the scene up in 2014. Everything is reversed with the -100 x scale, even miki and her pose.
Here is a quick render in 2014
And then I loaded it into 2012. The camera was moved some to make thinks easier to see.
Nudity tag just in case. A lot of her backside is showing and I can't tell what part of her chest.
And here is the scene without the props reversed

Of course it reversed all the normals. That's why step 2 is reverse all the normals.
Scaling by -100% means to take any positive X value and replace it with the corresponding negative X value, and vice versa. When you do this, everything becomes inside-out because the winding order of the polygon is now the opposite to what it was.
As for it not working in 2012 (or other Poser versions) so be it. I had no reason to think "basic math" doesn't work in some versions of Poser, but I guess that's the case.
As my signature says, I use Poser Pro 2014 and my display units are set to inches.

If you have a version of Poser that doesn't allow negative scale, you can do it like this.
Scale your prop to zero in the x (or y- or z-) axis, and export that with all boxes unchecked. Note that 'export as morph target' will undo your scaling, so you can't have that checked, meaning that your prop must be at its origin position.
Undo the scaling, then apply the exported mesh as a morph target.
Apply the morph target at a value of 2, and your prop will be mirrored. (Edit: my Posers, 7 and 9, only allow scaling to be set to 0.1%, meaning that your morph dial should be set to 2.002 to get a more accurate mirror.)
Then do the normal reversing thing as BB explained earlier.
Now you know why I prefer to use an external utility. :-) I don't see the point in battling with Poser if a quick export - modify - import cycle will get the job done more easily. This is a matter of personal preference, of course.
WHEN the forum gets fixed, I may get ebots for this thread even if I don't reply. Until that time, I'm not ignoring you, the forum is. < I should probably put that line in my signature...
the point of the exercise was not to validate or check normals, it was to demonstrate that in PP2014, it should be possible to mirror an entire scene with relative ease by parenting all objects to a single prop that was then mirrored.

People that know everything by definition can not learn anything
But for earlier versions:
http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=mirror_prop
and if you parent a figure to an object and mirror, it does not reverse normals
one thing, the axis are not necessarly intuitive i.e. it is not the direction x but axis y you would mirror on

While the OP's problem appears to be solved, I'd still like to continue the "mirror props within Poser" issue.
We have various, even contradictionary, reports on the "trick" of negative scaling: For some users it works, for others it doesn't, even if they have the same version of Poser.
This intrigues me.
I'd like to find out what causes this (maybe an issue of the respective SRs installed? I'm still on PP2014 10.03.26510)
However, I installed Poser 7 Pro today, and it doesn't work there either.
I mean, it could be a great feature: to be able to mirror a prop "on-the-fly" (without the need of exporting - then using another program - importing - finding out that the external program messed up something - redo the procedure, etc., ad nauseum).
So maybe we could find out what makes this "not" work, and how to fix it.
Anybody else interested?
Thank you.

Just shows how senile I am becoming, I can't even follow a process with about three steps in it.
Following Bagginsbill's instructions to the letter all of the props I have tried in Poser Pro 2014 do reverse as expected.
I use subtractive morphing regularly... scale object 1000, export, restore object to 100%, load 1000 scale as morph target. Morph 1000 scale object in external modeler, load result as morph target, dial morph to 1, dial scale morph -1, export result as morph target, dial all to 0, load as morph target, dial to 0.100. Basically a poor mans version of PML or GoZ... a way to eliminate translation errors between apps due to Poser's absurdly tiny native scale.
Confirmed, Bagginsbill's method works Poser 8. It's simply a step in a process I use regularly. Also, OP came into chat asking for a solution to the thread topic before creating the thread here. I linked him to D3d's mirror prop script. Last week.
Shrugs.

I bought a model from the Great Cybertenko and I would like to mirror this prop. The promo says you can mirror the prop for more options.
How do you this? Thanks for your time!
