Just in case Hornet is having a go at me, I should point out I was being sincere, I wasn't trolling.  As for this thread in general, I can't remember who said it, but I think someone hit the nail on the head earlier when they suggested the OP was probably promoting the Shibari product.

I would like to add my moral support to the original post. I think Renderosity should segregate both male and female genetalia to an area of the web site that must be consciously and deliberately accessed by those visitors/customers who wish to view or purchase such items. The purpose would be no more - and no less - than to respect the sensibilities of those who do not wish to stumble upon it unadvised.

And never mind why they find it offensive! Do not argue that they should not be offended! Merely show them courtesy enough to respect that they do find it offensive!

For the same reason, Items depicting explicit sexual behaviour, activities, and practices should be segregated as well. And that certainly includes Japanese bondage, however aesthetically pleasing the render.

Note bene: I specifically do not include those items that morph or manipulate female breasts; the content advisory seems to me sufficient for such products. It is sufficient too for promotional images that expose the breasts.

It if means anything, I was delighted to see the products being discussed in this forum; indeed, I immediately placed them in my wishlist. As for the prudes, well, prudes are people too. The point is, everyone, the prudes and the ribald, must be able to choose!

It may be a cultural thing, but question: what is the difference between a phallus and a gun?

Answer: A gun is made to kill people. A phallus is made to make people have a good time.  Guns kill more people than phalluses.

Therefore many people do not like to be confronted with guns, or do not like to see their children be confronted with them. May I therefore on the same grounds as given above suggest that items intended for killing and shooting are segregated from the rest of the items?

It is hereby acknowledged that you have never heard of rape. And I repeat, the point is not strictly the nature of the images, but respect for those who are offended by certain images. And therefore, yes, you certainly may.

um, just fyi, i was not selectively outraged or judging anything regarding the OPs perspective [or anything else in this thread, actually], merely pointing out that there are uses for things beyond the obvious... just because i'm not outraged at anything doesn't mean i can't voice my opine or thoughts... [shrug]

personally, i think there's room enough for everyone's perspectives and likes/dislikes, and it's not a requirement that we all agree.  if we all shared roughly the same ideas and emotional tolerances, etc., how do we ever progress as a species, or as individuals?

Superbly stated.

also wanted to add -

after reading through several threads, this one included, and listening to all the back & forth of who is right, who is wrong [and i mean relative to any number of threads], it occurs to me that at least on some emotional level that folks who are trying to foist their will, their perspectives, etc. onto others may be in some way attempting to exert some type/form of bondage/enslavement/censorship and that that Shibari pack is quite symbolic...

and it could be used in an image to depict symbolic dessension

and i like symbolism along side my like of creepy stuff, abstract stuff, horror stuff, sci-fi stuff, fantasy stuff, et. al.

Now why in the world would you think I was having a go at you :-). Actually I had just read an article on how there is an attempt to curb trolls in other media forums and the out cry it had caused as some see that as an attack on free speech.  I won't add my slant here but

sighs I have no issue with vaginas. What bothers me is that most of the time to even go look for a decent one you have to go to Renderotica..which has its own pitfalls.

I cant understand why such a product cant or shouldnt be sold here.

Its a part of the human body. Even if you arent doing "sex" pictures you need a woman to be correct. No "Barbie doll syndrome".

Why cant it be handled here? As for the shibari set..its quite artistic. While it can be erotic. The set is beautifully artistic  and I dearly wish they had it for v4.

It is frustrating for some of us that we cant purchase items like that here. Never mind that some "erotic poser" places do not use paypal and you have to register with another pay site...which I am not interested in doing...

Besides I thought they had "mature content" thumbs on naked figures etc?

Just because Renderotica fills a void for those who create material for many alternate lifestyles, does not mean that everyone there are deviants. Nor to say that all the props and art in their galleries strictly adhere to certain genre's, and nothing else.

To say you have not gotten that bad yet is hypocrisy...   Tell me, do really think that all the textures and clothing for the DAZ children and teens are only used by good God fearing artist for G and PG images? Can you say with any certainty, that some of your adolescent textures and clothing props will not be used by pedophiles to satisfy their perverted desires and share said image with other who crave such trash?

If you look closely within Renderotica, you will notice no textures of  young children or teens offered within their storefront, their gallery forbids images of children even when they are clothed. Their TOS forbids images of any character that looks younger that 20 in their galleries, and simply trying to post an image that could be considered borderline, could cause an artist to be banned from the website.   Some may cringe at seeing BDSM props, Shibari Props and poses, Kinky collars, and ballet Toed leather heels being sold here.

I cringe when I see children and young teen textures and outfits, knowing that in the wrong hands, they will be used for even more perverted acts like incest and KP.

Think about that before you start pointing the finger at other sites..

Regards DML2000

AMEN! thank you!

Trust me they are being used in some very nasty ways in DA. I find it horrifying some of the "children" things I see.

I have been fighting, begging, anything I can to get them to have a zero tolerance for child images that are sexual.

Rendo does have a habit of sending mixed messages, stating one thing just to change it a few months down the road.  i remember back in the day when they pulled all 'adult' type content, just to put it all back again if the vendor was willing roughly 8 months [?] later...

i'm no prude either, but some things here can still surprise me in terms of what the current acceptability might be at any given time...

and, though i may'nt be able to think of any real uses for a vaginal morph or prop beyond the obvious, there might be others that have a need for such a thing, and a need beyond the obvious.

for example, those beautiful rope packs you have in your post.  if those were ever made for V4, i'd be nabbing them up in a heartbeat.  not only do i find them extremely artistic and pleasing to my eye [i don't see them as sexual bondage anything], but i can see uses for such things beyond the potentially obvious like Cirque du Soleil type images, or creepy horror type images [think weird murder house]... etc.

i believe a thing is just a thing and it is through intent or use that defines it for judgemental purposes [good/bad, healthy/unhealthy, benign/malicious, etc.]

and in the time it's taken me to type this, i've thought of a use for a vaginal morph:  the birth of some horrifying alien creature or devil spawn, the sheer terror & horror on the mother's face as she leans up & over to see what slips from her body - but that's just me... i tend to like creepy stuff :))

[checking the Content/Language button in case 'vagina' is actually a naughty word]

Good to know I am not the only one that thinks that way :P

Oh they do. WHen you report it you get back "can you prove the figure is a child". Me and several other artists have been fighting this for awhile. Even when you link them to the child model, in child clothing, etc they still keep with the "can you prove its a child". Its not pleasant.

I have taken to reporting images to authorities because DA simply wont do anything.

artists like KassidiKeys have even left due to the issue.

If you want to battle DA on this then you'll need to make the company that hosts DA aware of whats going on.  You'll need to provide the link showing the child images.  Do this in email because it provides a virtual paper trail.

I'd just like to add my support to the OP and others who have said that they have noticed an increase in certain sorts of products and proclivities as well as to voice my agreement that, in general, actual showcase quality of products on the site seems to be going down a little bit. But, since I rarely buy stuff and, when I do, it's almost always from someone well-known for product quality, I can't comment on products that appear to be pure crap, but aren't... since I won't buy such products.

I think the solution is pretty obvious:

  1. An 18+ toggle on a member's user page that acts as a filter, much like the one used to allow 18+ imagery to be seen by the member. I realize that Renderosity might not want to do that, since it limits advertising exposure and might result in less people seeing 18+ products. HOWEVER, what it would do is allow them to have a broader 18+ product line without offering unnecessary offense to non-members and those who choose not to view such products. (I'd be fine with none of them being offered, since there is, after all, an alternative marketplace for them that has been around for quite awhile, in one incarnation or another. But, I think Renderosity would rather have the sales potential and would be more amenable to using an 18+ filter for products and broadening it's 18+ product-line, as a result.)

  2. A better system of quality control and more scrutiny of certain sorts of products. Product-saturation can contribute, remarkably enough, to decreased sales, if overall quality is a question. If there are nine crappy products for every one good product, the entire genre of products is going to be considered crappy, 90% of the time... See how that works? :) So, do we really need three-hundred and fifty-seven hair retextures for one hair model that only demonstrate the creator's skill with a Photoshop Hue tool or filter? No. And, if it makes it to the marketplace, what does that say about the marketplace? What if, instead, it was ten very well done retextures using real reference photos and very good mapping and image editing skills? Yes, we would like those, okthxplz...

Lastly, good taste and appearance matters. It matters a heck of a lot. In fact, one's reputation, whether in business or in any other facet of life, is one of the most influential things regarding one's success that one can control. If one plans to live alone on an island, then that doesn't matter. But, if one intends to live and operate amongst human-beings, it's of paramount importance. Spend it at your own risk...

And you can hammer that in stone!

Have a nice day.

Tony please stop to tell others what to use and what not. Take a look in the history of art. You ever been in Pompeii? In Roma? Mosaiks full with naked people, Vagina's penis. I am not using this kind of stuf in my renders, but I don't like censoring everything which does not fit your box. This is really a new sickness here in Europe.

Why not? why doesnt it have a place? why is it such a bad thing?

its part of a womans anatomy....I do not see the issue.

if I want to do work that is non-sexual and be accurate I have to have a "complete" human. This requires a vagina.

It doesn't matter in the greater scheme of things, but still, I'd hate to think I had pissed-off anyone enought to be on an ignore list, and it seems like a stupid system to me anyway.  I never put anyone on ignore, there's no point, I just don't bother reading stuff if I think the person that posted it is an idiot or whatever.  I do the same thing all the time, I always read posts by everyone new I see, but as time goes on I just tend to skip the posts of people who I think aren't quite 'with it' if you know what I mean.

I'll admit there's a few who's posts I generally don't bother to read, but there's none on ignore, never will be - just seems pointless.

I have three on ignore at the moment, same people at RDNA.  They are the people that used to be able to 'push my button' so I used the ignore.  You are able to handle it in a different manner so that is cool. I do still see the odd post from someone on ignore when it is quoted in a response but five years on they appear to be saying the same thing so any impact has died a death so perhaps the only thing the ignore does for me now is reduce the amount I have to scroll.

The ignore function on this forum is as arse-backwards as everything else. Instead of just discretely disappearing the posts you don't want to read it shoves a bright "HEADS UP!!!! You are ignoring this guy!!!!" banner thing in your face. And then usually the ignored post is quoted in oversize letters in the very next post anyway, without stating who the author was, so you end up reading it anyway.

Thought I'd check the Vimeo Stats page for that video I embedded on the previous page.  They definitely like the racy stuff here cause as it happens, Renderosity is currently tied in first place with the other leader in the amount of views that trailer got.  Under the Top Embeds, Renderosity.com is listed as a top-embedder (tied for first place).  The only thing I don't know is how many went out and purchased it.

Nevertheless, I'm extremely proud to be among such kinky-minded individuals, and that made me smile!

When turning 3D art into porn?

Its like turning beauty into dirty.

I have nothing against nudity, on the contrary. I Always fought to have full "figures", including breast, nipples, penis. We are 2015 after all.

But if we do not self censor in some way, this beautifull 3D art (including nudity) might get on the same shelf as porn, and run off in a legal dispute someday

"Porn": the oh-my-god evil word. Anybody shiverering and shaking? Well, not me. Porn, so what? Porn is an form of artistic expression among others. From Pompeji to Picasso to modern time gonzo movies clips. There is good porn, there is bad porn, which is which is in the eye of the beholder. What are you afraid of? People do porn and nothing else? I don't think so. I don't see a reason to warn of a danger, because I don't see one. German phrase: "Du malst den Teufel an die Wand". "you paint the devil on the wall". You see a danger, where is no danger at all.

You might think, the word "porn" is powerful enough to let people think it is a threat, at least for me, it is not. Is it dirty? If it's done the right way, yes.

Just kidding, but anyway, porn is not dirty, it's just a recording of what happens between humans, and no less beautiful than the face of a pretty girl.
Even those bible bashers get up to this stuff, otherwise they wouldn't exist.

Take that epic-ass render David posted in the leg thread for example, would you honestly believe a word anyone said if they'd said something like:
