Subject: Deactivation and the Download Manager :

pumeco ( ) posted Mon, 15 June 2015 at 1:26 PM · edited Fri, 20 December 2024 at 4:16 PM

I'm planning a reformat soon but I can't see anything about the deactivation thing for Poser 10, so I'm wondering if it's ok to just wipe it and it will work next time.  Can't remember where I read it, but there was a thread on here about some authorisation crap they decided to implement and I'm not entirely sure if it was just for Poser Pro or whether it includes Poser 10 as well.

Either way, does this mean that if I download Poser 10 on a new installation using the Download Manager, it will need to be activated?
If it does, I'll no doubt need to deactivate my current installation first somehow.

Also, does anyone have a link for the Download Manager itself so that I can use it next time?

The Activation/Deactivation was introduced with the Game Dev version but there was some confusion recently when the SM web site stated that Game Dev and Poser 10/2014 needed and Internet connection for the 'Activation service'.  Since then Nerd 3D has confirmed the the Activation service is only applicable to Game Dev and the web site specs for Poser 10/2014 have been updated to reflect this.

As far as I remember the download manager will request your serial number but that is all and there should be no difficulty.

Chapter and verse can be seen at RDNA but as you are on Poser 10 there should be no need for concern.

Good Luck.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Is there a time limit on how long Poser can be downloaded via the DLM?

I hadn't noticed there was one, myself, but I haven't redownloaded it in a while.   I keep the install files DLM downloads backed up on an external drive....

Cheers Vita, Hornet, Rod, I appreciate it, though I should point out that Poser 10 has a different download location for Download Manager than Poser Pro.
Not sure whether the download itself is any different, but might be worth noting just in case.

 What you can do :

Download Poser10 now. (If you did not keep the installation files)

That will be around 4GB in (from memory) 7 or 8 files??

Create a folder, "Poser10-Install" (you can choose the name)
Copy all the downloaded exe files in that folder.
And put it away on a USB stick, or external HD? whatever. (do not forget to add a small txt file with your serial number)

After the reformat, all you have to do is click the Poser installation exe file, and all files (the app and the content files) will install automatically in a single go.
And then install SR5.2 over that.
Done

Poser 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, P8 and PPro2010, P9 and PP2012, P10 and PP2014 Game Dev

That's what I do as well, just shove each program in it's own folder along with a text file holding the serial :-D
Yup, might do that, depends if I can free-up enough space.

I doubt if there's a time limit on redownloading Poser with the download manager. I bought PP2014 on the DVD, and I am still able to download it on the download manager using the serial number that came with the DVD.
