Guys

Looks like Daz has released Victoria 7/G3F today. Unfortunately, no support for Carrara yet.

PhilW was able to hammer her in somehow, but Phil is a genius, so no surprise on that front. It didn't even work right for him so...

I don't know from the 30 seconds I spent looking at her if she is an actual improvement (visually) over V6.

Go over and check her out and lets talk.

PS. I really wish they would have fixed V6 and our ability to use her before releasing a brand new character.

It makes me worry they might not bother fixing V6 and just skip straight to "fixing" V7

That might surprise you, but I don't care about Genesis functionality in Carrara.

I want Carrara and Daz Studio to be two very distinguishable products in all their functionalities, because If they were two exactly similar products, then one of them would become redundant.

I don't want Carrara to compete with 3DSMax or Maya or Houdini or Blender or C4D or Modo or Lightwave.

All I want is for Carrara to offer native Poser content compatibility, and a feature set comparable to this $99 app: Cheetah 3D

Hi Dr Bernie, yes, but we would like Carrara to be improved - eg a cloth sim that works.

DAZ doesn't care about Carrara, she will only care about Carrara if she (daz) can make money from her.

So an epiphenomenon of V7 being able to be used in Carrara might be other improvements.

We are trying to make Daz realise that Carrara users spend money  as well http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/58113/

Doc, I don't want Carrara to "Compete" with 3DSMax or Maya either.  Carrara already offers Poser compatibility.

You may have noticed a lot of vendors at the Daz marketplace are beginning to release models in the DUF format. Even Stonemason's newest release didn't offer a Poser version (just threw in a few OBJs and they don't work right)

More is being released for Genesis daily and that is beginning to spread to the Rendo marketplace.

As a professional user, I don't look forward to being left behind.

Hmm.

Nobody has any opinion of V7?

Usually the release of a new Daz Vicky has the boards everywhere on fire.

I like her, from what I can see. Not a big improvement over V6, but I still like her.

Can't wait to see what the Asian character will look like.

Some of us Carrara users, probably a minority, prefer to stay with the older Gen4 characters, which work seamlessly in Carrara.  I personally have no interest in DAZ Studio, Genesis, DUF files, etc., many of which seem to require substantial fiddling to get working properly in Cararra.  If its even possible.  Yes, I'm disappointed that some PA's at DAZ, like Stonemason, are apparently no longer providing Poser format content.  But I already own about 70 of his 142 items, all in Poser format and all very usable in my short animations.  So I'll have to live without "The Streets Of Old London", I guess.  But I'd rather spend my time creating animations than wrestling with compatibility problems. And yes, I still play my decades old vinyl albums B-}

Don't hold your breath that Daz decides to add support, even if they do, they dont have the people with the technical skills to do it anyway, look at their beta's and how well Genesis works in Carrara, they don't care about Carrara or bryce, just DS

It's probably quiet because we can't really use her in Carrara (yet....??). So far I like G2F and V7, definitely a different look than the previous versions, I just hope the will support her in Carrara. Here are a couple of quick test render I did in DS. The first one is of V7, with only a couple of minor morph modifications to the face. The second one is EJ Tatijana. Both were rendered using Iray and the shaders/mats that come with the figures. file_3988c7f88ebcb58c6ce932b957b6f332.jpfile_f899139df5e1059396431415e770c6dd.jp

It is very beautiful all that… but there are textures and characters of V3 and V4 which are also beautiful, if not more… Why beat your head with these tricks which are not yet reliable ?

It is to tease you DustRider, I'm  speaking just for myself…

Cheers !
