I thought it was a statement, you know, Poser Forum Roolz, and all that. ;)
The no vulgarity is a new one, ain't it? When did that one happen?
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
What about c*nt?
You know what I mean, there are a hundred of them to the dollar / euro.
You're going to have a tough time with Number 2 - (oh dear I wrote 'Number 2', is that vulgar ?) - obscene or coarse language is one thing, vulgarity is a grey area.
But 1, 3 and 4 sound sensible enough.
Also Sam's latin phrase means "Coppula it would not be able to acceptera RALLY" according to Google translate, which I think we can all agree with.

These are from a forum I once frequented that was the most civilized acting forum I've belonged to. We want to encourage new members to join us and old members to return to a friendly place. Most of our members are courteous ... a small few ... might want a little guidance. Thus the rules. Just another way to say play nice and be helpful.

Thanks Boni but you didn't answer my questions. New rule? When did it come into force?
TIA.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Nope, that's fine, Boni. Thanks.
Oddly enough - given that I hardly ever use "bad" language in RL, but will use it for emphasis and comedy value here and elsewhere - I don't agree with the rule. I'll abide by it though. :)
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Some people can get carried away ... restricting strong language sometimes can help keep folks in check and keep debates a bit friendlier. I may be overly optimistic, but I am actively coaxing unhappy former Renderosity members back from Facebook. We have a lot to offer.

Rules are great, not enforcing them makes them meaningless.
From what I have read tonight, they are not being enforced, so what is the point really?.
Coaxing users back to see more of the same is not a wise choice....

3 days after the new forum rules, we see crap like this, and either,, pumeco is exempt from the new rules or they are just a joke and everyone can continue on as before with no consequences.
Either way, it just means more and more people heading for the exits. Both of these are personal attacks.

Boni, thanks for the reply, and I appreciate what you are doing to assist in the forums. This was in the nerd thread. But you see, closing threads is not the answer, because everyone suffers for that, and this is part of the reasons trolls keep trolling. Someone says something they don't like, so they pick a fight or get nasty, and eventually the thread is closed and they move to another. The trolls need to be silenced. Not the community.

oh I'm keeping an eye on pumeco among others. I'm trying to give the troublesome folks a chance to modify their behavior, as some of them ... even in their argumentative nature they still have some potential for constructive comments ... May get the hint. I don't want to shut down unless absolutely necessary.

I am not sure some people even use Poser that are commenting. Last time I checked it wont even run in Debian Linux, and I check yesterday (Sunday) in virtual machines I set up on my server............... It wont run in Red Hat or Ubuntu 13 either.........
Anyone that makes waves, (regardless of who it is), can think about it during a temp ban while others have conversations...
Letting this continue and trying to invite people back at the same time is not showing anyone that it will be addressed.
Just the opposite in fact. The "May get the hint" part screams I am going to let it go for now.......... Those rules are just for people to read...........
I am not sure how the upper management wants thing dealt with, but it really makes me wonder if the Mods here have any say in anything that goes on in the forums they monitor. I wonder that, because sooner than later the revolving door is going to hit another one........... I have lost track of how many the door hit at this point.....
On the other hand I could be proved wrong, which would be a welcome change around here.

Wow, I just spotted this thread :
First off, the message to SM is a warning, and it's one they had better heed. There are organizations out there set-up specifically to deal with corporate malpractice, and all SM need to do to put themselves in that position, is screw-up just once more with the unauthorised 'Calling-Home' crap - and they'll find their products getting VERY closely monitored. As I said, I've not reported it this time, but that's merely down to the fact that it could be a genuine mistake. If it happens a second time, however (on a different build), they'll be reported faster than you can say ... CRAP!
As for the F-word I find myself using a lot lately, it's the outright stupidity of some members on this forum that cause those F-Words to surface in the first place. And just so you know, I always used to censor that word until I saw others were getting away with using it. Go back in time and start reading, you'll see that others started that long before I did. So there's that, and then there's the the way I often get singled-out around here, and that's another thing that can be dealt with in ways you're likely not even aware of, so it had better stop - now.
Away from this forum I am perfectly polite and have a perfectly civil tongue. Then again, away from this forum I'm not subjected to such levels of sheer ignorance and stupidity as is often demonstrated around here. It's those that aren't aware of what goes on that "need a little guidance" , not me - and such people would do well to remember that.
The rules that are posted above are completely useless because they failed even on concept, nevermind putting them into practice. If my post to SM is seen as an "attack" and the "F**k" word is no longer permitted here, then why is my rant to SM and all my naughty F-Words in my other posts still there? This place is about as consistent as a failing lightbulb, so my suggestion is to sort your own problems out, you just might find that the forum will be better as a result. It's much better than blaming others for the state of the place - and I don't run the place - you do.
Any further singling-out comments from Glitterati or Structure will be regarded by myself as an "attack" on my character, so my suggestion there is don't do it again. And assuming the search facility here actually works today, go search the word "F**k" (without the censoring) and you'll find a whole bunch of people using it. Search and sort by date and you might even find out who the initiators of the trend are - and it certainly wasn't me!
This thread surely deserves to get "The most arrogance shown in a single thread" award.
Don't concern youerselves with me, rather concern yourselves with yourselves is my advice.
Look out Pumeco the villagers are handing out the pitchforks!
This thread already drips with irony counter to its stated intention. It's drifting into a launch pad for attacking members openly, in my opinion it should be cleaned up and locked with just the OP in place. Questions should be mailed to a moderator if needed, questionable posts reported through the usual channels.
Members discussing banning other members hardly adds to a positive atmosphere in the forums, also labeling a large group as faceless trouble makers is also rather negative.
It's quite simple - Delete contentious posts with an email to the poster explaining the reason, so they know why it was deleted and what behaviour was out of line. Issue bans from short term to permanent for extreme repeat offenders. Any bans should only be given to repetitive malicious intent posters of the most serious nature.
Seems a little like a personal attack shvrdavid, the inference is that the majority of Pumeco's posts have no merit.
Or is it a friendly jibe? who can tell these days? Should the new rules only pertain to certain members in certain situations? Wait, is this off topic?
I can't keep up anymore... lol
Please constrain complaints to site mail. I feel, being human I was overcome with this feud. Whether the disagreement was concerning other members or software companies and whether there is any validity to these accusations or not ... This forum and this site are not the appropriate platform. We are here to help people use Software and content, not politicize the industry.

It doesn't matter what other people are or are not doing. That is site admin's job to worry about and decide who is at fault. The only thing any of you as a member need to worry about is how you conduct yourselves. If everyone took care of how they conducted themselves then the issues would drop to a minimum.
The TOS makes it clear that retaliatory attacks are no different than instigating attacks. Both are responsible at that point and will be dealt with accordingly. Usually it is the retaliatory attacks that cause the most trouble and perpetuate the arguing. When someone says something you don't like, be an adult and simply ignore them. If you must respond to them then do so in a mature and responsible manner as though you are an adult and not a petulant child. That means no insults or attacks on character. This is not junior high.
Boni Wrote:

Then why are complaints about me still sat here in a 'sticky' thread? There's no consistency here as others keep pointing out, and you can't expect a person to just sit back and watch complaints about them being posted in public, and not to complain back about it in public!
Shane Wrote:

That's right, it's not Junior High, so remember that next time you attack my character as "Petulant Child" just because you don't agree with my take on things.
Be "adult" about it, and face the fact that you simply don't like me or my take on things. We're all entitled to think what we want, you are, and so am I.
Any more attempts to bait me into losing my rag?

And the only thing you as a Moderator need to concern yourself with is how to conduct yourself, and to ensure you don't abuse that position of trust.
You're responsible for that, and if the abuse of trust continues, there are ways to deal with that accordingly. It's almost as if being a Moderator makes you think you can talk to people however you like. I have a list as long as my arm now, and the more you do it, the longer it gets. Pretty soon, even Mr. Tickle wouldn't have long enough arms to hold the list :

First of all, yours was the first thread I came across and I used it to illustrate something far more serious. Secondly, using someones actual post, can in no way be used to claim a personal attack, since the post was not directed at you, merely a copy of your exact words, it is an actual fact. I challenge you to prove in law that you suffered a personal attack here. My point is that your comments were made AFTER the the new rules, and nothing happened, and here you are in this thread proving just that fact. As for the rest of your comments, they are going where they belong, on ignore.

Well for starters, putting this thread directly into 'sticky' mode and not telling us about it is hardly the way to get it noticed, is it now. I had no idea the thread even existed until last night, maybe they didn't want me to see it. And second, when I come across a thread that contains nothing but complaints about me and no one else, I can (and do) take that as an attack on my character - I'm not the only one who uses bad language around here and I'm not the one who started it either.
Shane Wrote:
"Nowhere in my post did I mention any specific names. To assume a post is directed at you specifically just makes you look guilty."
I am indeed guilty of having an opinion and take on things that is vastly different to yours.
Well for starters, putting this thread directly into 'sticky' mode and not telling us about it is hardly the way to get it noticed, is it now.
Putting posts in sticky mode is how we notify the forum. There is nothing new about that, it's the way things have always been done here, and at most every other forum on the internet. It's your responsibility to read the stickies when they are posted. That's why they exist at the top of the forum, to be read first. Most of the posts in this thread are not about you.
@Shane
People have been ranting and posting uncensored F**k words here for ages. There's those Genesis arguments, then there's Baggins with his understandable discontent with the forum software, and then there's me with my discontent with blatant stupidity and ignorance - so we all have things that get under our skin enough to make us swear, it's not just me.
Every demonstration posted in this thread are from people who have taken the time to take screen grabs of my posts, no one elses! And they have done so knowing this thread existed, but I had no idea about it. I know by the times the posts were made, who was aware of what and at what time, so cut the crap cause not one of you Moderators took the time to point this thread out to me. Instead, you just let me go-on swearing regrdless, not knowing about the thread. If I hadn't looked when I did, I might still not be aware of the thing or the new rules (and BTW, I haven't used an uncensored F**k word since I found out about them).
So yeah, me being one of the trouble-makers the mods have said they have an eye on, means that your failure to point this thread out to me, just makes you look really incompetent as a moderator.
