I have not posted here in a while, but this is a new project I am working on.  New clouds for Bryce.  These will work in any rendering program, but this particular set is Obp for Bryce.

quick question: when you say it will work in any rendering program,.... what file format is required to import the set?

Thanks SndCastie!  Staigermanus it is 2d jpegs with black and white transparency masks.

ah, sweet, would be interesting to turn them into volumetric 3D. We can map a bunch of such particles across the images, based on dark vs. bright elements. Then stack it up and look at it from slightly different angles. or add full twist and motion too. If you want me to try that on 2-3 Jpegs?

Staigermanus I am trying to get away from having to use volumetrics.   Why I went this way in the first place.  So no I do not want to do that.  But thank you for offering.  I appreciate it.

Ah, yes I see, and it certainly adds a level of speed and flexibility. It's different.

We don't really do volumetrics either, it's particles that cover the areas in a way to mimic volumetrics. I guess you could say it's a hybrid between real volumetrics and your still images.

By-the-way, if they are in Jpeg, how do you manage to put transparency on it?  or do you rather use the same image as both the color channel (greyscale clouds) and the opacity mask?

Would you let me have a sample to play with in PD Howler? like to place it behind our mountains?

Well theses will certainly cut render times down...good work man.

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again
