September's Theme, "Imaginary Places", is now concluded. We didn't have a lot of entries, but this was a short "month" this time. Please review the entries listed here and cast a vote for the image you like best. Highest votes gets to display the winner emblem next to their image, plus the artist gets to pick the new Theme for October. :) Imaginary Places Theme entries: [tradivoro](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=416767) [Axe555](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=417222) [jpcr](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=419283) [agiel](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=409775) Laurent is not competing this time, so don't vote for his image, but do take another look at it. :) Please review the images and cast your vote by posting your choice in this thread. Votes will be accepted until the end of October 7. Thanks to everyone who took the time to tackle the Theme and also to those who made a try at the Challenge for "using colored lights." :) Varian

Sorry I could not paticipate to this challenge. No time. Even no time to create any thing since a month. I like most Tradivoro's image and vote for it :-) Guitta

Y'know, I've been working on this one, but I knew there was no way I'd have it finished in time, since I have to model the main subject myself. I was hoping to recreate Larry Niven's "Ringworld". If you're into Sci-fi, you might know what that is. The problem was,I lost my copy of the book, and have ben trying to find info about it on the 'net for dimensiions of the thing, various technical points about the shadow planes, etc.... it seems fairly simple at first, but the thing has to have terrains and oceans and all that good stuff, and then it has to all be placed precisely on the inner surface of the ring.... I'll get it done soon, I s'pose. I'm really torn between Rich's and Paul's pictures, because they're both very very good, and quite different. But, I have to go with Axe 555 (Rich) on this one, so that's who I vote for. The texturing in Paul's picture is awesome, as is the design and the composition, but I like the atmosphere in Rich's, and it has more of that "somewhere else" feel to it, I think. And, I was thinking that this one ended on the 6th for some reason!! Thanks again Varian, I promise, I'll take care of getting the next one together, and all the URLS straight and all that..

Mike, did you check out this site ? A google search on "ringworld + 3D" also gets you a number of links, not all Niven's "Ringworld" related though. :)

Thanks for the candidates. It was a short one and it was nice to see some of you could make it in time (btw... it is never too late to add a new entry... oct 7 is a few days away). It is always difficult to choose but my favorite this time is Axe. Mike... I am curious about your ringworld. I have been trying to do that for a while but I gave up. Maybe I will start fresh and try again :)

Thanks hein! I already had found the info, but this site is VERY cool! Laurent, I'm essentially still trying to put it together. The shadow square wires are a problem, but you would think that they would be inconsequential, and unnoticeable considering the sheer size of everything, but Louis Wu did make at least one reference to seeing the glint of sunlight on them at one point. You had suggested this Challenge, and I was trying to think of subject matter, to no avail, and then one day I was at work and it suddenly hit me: "Ringworld!" Modeling the ring itself was actually quite easy, but the shadow squares were a problem, getting them placed right, but it's an absolute nightmare getting terrains on it, let alone cities..... I will have something to show for it soon. :)

I vote for tradivoro's image. It has the look of a quiet, restful place. Rich

My vote goes to Tradivoro's picture. It seems like a very beautiful place to be.
