I will stress that people should not compare this to DAZ's Genesis figures, or any other figures for that matter. Project E is a figure that has been designed to work for my comics, and is tailored for supporting an artist that knows the deal when it comes to complex CG figures.
Sorry, I can't help myself. I just loaded up Genesis 3 Female and posed her as you have your figure in the third render you provided and I don't see a superior Genesis 3 Female figure. Your figure is showing the elbow bone (the Ulna?) for Christ's sake! And the bend is 100% natural.

Lol I don't see why there has to be fighting. PE is probably going to be available for Daz as well you know:) It's not a Poser exclusive figure as far as I know. Lalli was available for both. So let's leave the app wars out of this. Pretty sure both sides will be able to enjoy the figure:)

Exactly. I am actually chuckling now. Anyway, you better than most know exactly why I had to make the comparison. Whithout PAs like you, which are less than a handful of you, the Genesis line of figures, which let me reiterate, I like, wouldn't look as good.

Thanks for the kind words:) Yes, 3rd Party support is important for any figure if it is to catch on. Since Ero is a good friend of mine, if he has a Daz version of PE I won't mind making a thing or two for her:)
yeah boet, you're a monster when it comes to producing stuff for daz! :D I don't think I know any vendor that produces so much stuff like you do! daz owe you big time!
yeah lets keep it cool. Comparisons are unavoidable but don't have to be problematic. Yes, if you dissect G3 properly then you'll definitely see some anatomical errors (collar bone for example, or proportions in general), but it all depends on what you want to use it for. Art has the advantage to be allowed to deviate from reality. I've seen plenty great stuff being made with Genesis figures (or V4 for that matter), and I think that DAZ is not really hell-bent to get crazy anatomical accuracy in their figures like I am. Its just a different focus and I can see why they might want to take short cuts with certain complex joints like the shoulders (BLOODY COMPLEX I TELL YOU!).
So yeah I do like a little bit more of an accurate representation of the human form, and I'm doing my best to get it right. But I'm quite sure even I'll make blunders!
Regarding DS compatibility, I would love nothing more since a lot of my friends are DS users, but Poison (from 'Otica) doesn't seem confident about getting it to work in DS. Project E makes use of weight maps that extend to neighboring joints to get the smooth bending as good as possible, but when I load PE into DS, the extended regions are not read well. So I think the only way to get PE working in DS is to re-rig it in DS. This means I'd have to eliminate all the extended WM and then see if I can use DS tech to solve the problem... or ask Zev or Poison to sort that bit out...

Hmmm... I hope you sort that out. Like I said, I use DAZ Studio a lot. I understand that your figure was designed for a specific use, but still, if you can do it, I think a company with much larger budgets and an army of 3D experts behind them can also do it.

One would kindof expect that huh? :D if only I had that budget!!!!!! Yeah we'll have to see about DS. We're looking into it!

Yes Glitterati any support would be fantastic. Let's first see how this will all pan out.
thanks so much guys

Wow, great render Ero! Shades of Manet. As with all your works, Lali being my favorite instance of V4, excellent.

My concern is that PE uses V4 topology which makes me shy away from investing in the figure. No, DAZ may not be able to find you out in the middle of the bush, they can take other action. I have a number of figures that have since been pulled from various markets for a variety of reasons (at least two were for topology). While I can still use them in non-commercial works, they are of little use since the lion's share of my work is commercial.
we'll just have to see. The idea is either an V4/V6/V7 FBM with matching joint centers, or a V4 version, that can only work if you already have V4 installed. I presume that would be fair to DAZ. But if DAZ forbids me from doing either, then its very simple: PE will need to rely on good conversion tools, and/or support from vendors to become a 'successful' figure.
But like I already said I am honestly not dead-set on becoming serious competition for other figures out there. I don't care much for this figure circus, especially now with the the new tools in Poser you can fit just about any clothing item to any figure. I convert G2 stuff to PE plenty.
But we'll see, there might be other options. Lemme first rig the girl properly...
"The fool is not the one that does something foolish, but the one that does nothing at all."
On the subject of topology and rigging... I find this to be a pretty murky issue. In a thread on another forum the topic of re-topology came up and someone pointed out Daz had issued a statement saying that it was Ok to manually copy a mesh's topology but transferring it automatically was forbidden. It sounds silly to me to think I can do something one way and it's permitted, but if I do it another way it's not. Usually in copyright issues it's the final work that is judged for its similarity... But according to Daz, at that time anyway, they were not concerned about how close the meshes were just that the mesh was not created automatically. I think rigging would have to be a similar matter. Using the V4 rig as a donor might be forbidden, but it seems to me a functionally exact rig could be created using Poser's set-up tools.
Makes me wonder if mesh makers and riggers don't use the old cartographer's trick of making deliberate errors in order to catch people copying their work...
"...someone pointed out Daz had issued a statement saying that it was Ok to manually copy a mesh's topology but transferring it automatically was forbidden."
I would guess that as long as you build the rig yourself from scratch, in effect reverse engineering it, then DAZ would not have a problem with it.
I could have sworn I commented, but guess not.
I LOVE the render, Ero! It's absolutely astounding. Thanks so much. :) Anxiously awaits more....
Have a creative day!

Hey guys! Sorry for disappearing on ya'll. As some of you might have read on my blog (as Timberwolf said) I've temporarily put PE on hold and focusing entirely on my comics until Poser 11 comes out. Poser's rigging tools are currently bugged / broke in such a way that developing PE will become a Frankenstein of workarounds. Luckily Nerd3D (and a bunch of other guys) is aware of the problems and hopefully will get fixed in Poser 11, and who knows what other game-changers Poser could come up with. Yes I also want her to get released asap, but Project E is a very complex figure and I want to make sure it works 100% before even daring to release her. In any case I've been offered help by some prominent names in the Poser world, to manage and streamline development with me once P11 comes out... let's hope P11 will be worth the wait! (for comics Poser is sublime, and I cannot wait for the new renderer Superfly!!)
Here are a whole bunch of Project E pictures (most of these girls are propriety comic figures. When PE becomes serious, you'll be presented with actual sellable characters):

The figure aside, I'm always amazed at the quality of lighting in your scenes... :)

Hey, the nudes are cool, an' all... But, though it may seem crazy, I'd be more "turned on" if you could give us a sneak-peak at the wire.... :) Yes, I'm weird like that - Wireframe Renders do it for me. ;)

Ooohhh... Wires! /slobber
What's the polycount on the latest version? And, what do you think your finished count will be? (Percentage swag +/- is fine.)
I like the fact you'll have a remapped version for V4 textures. That's very nice and, to be honest, will greatly enhance the appeal of the product. What sort of rigging changes are you going to make, do you think? Any chance of getting it into relatively easy compatibility with V4 assets as far as that is concerned? (Maybe the inclusion of a v4-to-E clothes rigging converter, perhaps?)
From the Wires E's mesh is as dense as V4's ,puts polycount around 60,000 give or take a few.
Doc makes converters from one character to another don't he ?

Hey quietrob, can I adopt part of your name? quietEro :D
yeah nothing much happened with PE in the meanwhile except for some morphs / FBMs I needed for the comic. Small updates can be seen below. I'm waiting for Poser11 to come out and then I'm going to be drawing up some battle plans (and this time it might actually work because apparently the new Poser is 'badass'!). I think I mentioned this before but I need to improve the mesh here and there, emplace a new head, redo the UVs, JCMs, and then make a tonne of FBMs and options. Poser's improvements should iron out a bunch of issues I've been having with rigging / JCM control / conforming stuff and copying morphs. Most importantly, to make PE market-worthy, Poser has apparently / finally made it dead-easy to make INJ files!!! BIG game changer for me! If they also work with JCMs is another story but I have support for that.
Wires, yep, like RorrKonn said, check my blog. Figure res, a bit higher than V4. Face / hands / gens are slightly denser, back of head / torso / shins are slightly less dense, and don't forget, the integrated gens will add quite a few polys (like Lali's Bits would). It should be possible to provide a gen-less version for the sake of cutting the polycount. I won't post a number just yet because things might change with the improved mesh, but yeah its higher than V4 at the moment. Reason: I wanted hires for myself, its just a specialist art figure (I don't do games and stuff like that). If Poser really proves itself this time round, I might make a second lo-res figure. We'll see because I still have to make comics.
Speaking of comics and PE, I just released a free comic on Rotica. There you can see Project E at work. However there are different versions of project E in that comic. All the main girls are an older rig (started posing before the update), except for Roxanna, Rebecca, and Lali in the living room, who are the updated version. The difference is mainly the shoulder rigs.
Anyway, thanks for being patient. Please stick around because when the time comes, I'm going to have a BOATLOAD of questions to ask you guys about preferences for rigging. If you're an experienced vendor, and you're interested, please email me: erogenesis.art AT gmail.com and let me know why you're interested, what you've done before, and if you wanna help out with stuff.
Cheers guys!
PS: please remember, I'm not doing anything drastic until Poser 11 comes out. Their new tech should solve a number of issues!

If the vendor wouldn't mind...updates! A bit ago, I subscribed to a thread for a saddle from a beehive of minds that worked from Dawn to Dusk and each time a render came out it built more excitement and I think, helped motivate the vendor as well.

words gettin out there AFRIKA! Lali and now "E" are marketing you as much as you're them....an dats a good ting duude! What straps suit are you using on that barbarian sweetie still AS Straps suit for V2 or is that the new one for V4 here in the store? Is that Laila on page 3 in front of the purple drapes?
Okay, gotta say -- the hands look incredible! They've always been rather iffy at best in other figures, even with a multitude of fixes, and posing them has always been a chore because they never look right. Whatever you do to improve things, don't mess with those hands: they're amazing.
