Subject: Poser Dynamic Clothing In Carrara?

Steve K. ( ) posted Thu, 06 August 2015 at 6:59 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 11:45 PM

Is it possible to use Poser Dynamic clothing in Carrara Pro 8.5?  I have this product:

http://www.daz3d.com/milady-fashion

It loads and fits to V4 in the default pose, but then does not move with any pose changes.  I saw some DAZ Forum items about various utilities that seem to have disappeared.

Also, will such a product animate in Poser (I have Poser V.7 & V.9)?

Steve

If you have Poser, then that product, http://www.daz3d.com/milady-fashion ,it should animate and work fine in Poser.

Daz's Dynamic Cloth (Optitex) seems to work in Carrara and ManleyStan is the expert with that and that is the only Dynamic Cloth I have heard that works with Carrara.

Hi Steve !

You don't read everything on Carrarators...

I made a thread to explain how to import a dynamic clothe simulation from Poser to Carrara.

It's very easy, after the simulation in Poser, you use the "Dyn to Morph" script and you import the pose in Carrara, it's all.

You can also export as an obj seq. and import it in Carrara thanks to the DCG Importer plugin, but I think it's not so easy than the script.

Okay, thanks.  I had to start with the Poser Cloth Room, since I've never used it before.  After some fiddling and a couple of helpful tutorials on YouTube, I more or less see how it works.  Its pretty touchy to the details of the animation, e.g. if a hand brushes slightly into the character body, the cloth starts bunching (even with "Ignore Hand Collisions" turned on).  That may be a feature at times, like the character is scratching thru the clothes.  I haven't gotten to Carrara yet, busy on other projects, but one way might be to just do the animation in Poser and composite in the video editor.  I don't care for Poser for large scenes, but one character is OK.

Not even sure if it still works. Last update to Studio and carrara broke some of the compatibility between the 2.
