Yes! I have her in my cart over there and am getting ready to buy her. She does look very good!!

Same here. Dawn SR2 really made her useful and Special Edition looks even better. Can't wait to play with her.

It is difficult to tell from the untextured Promos but there does seem to be an improvement in the expressions which would be something that could tempt me.  Other improvements do look good and I am glad that they are continuing to develop the figure.  I think this could end up in my runtime before the sale is over.

Thank you for posting this render, digitell.

Her elbow bends look extremely good, and from what I can see her shoulders/armpits are OK too.

However, her feet still suffer from what I noticed in the base figure as it came out:

Look at her toes - they are way to narrow compared to the foot (like as if they were scaled to 80% size). I do understand that it helps when putting on shoes to avoid poke through - but for barefoot renders it looks a bit off.

(yes, you may call me kind of a foot fetishist :D) But then, I do care for such details which can make the uncanny valley a bit deeper than it already is...

But that's not your fault. "Au contraire" - that's a bloody nice character you've created here!

Regards,

-P-

Hi PikesPit,

Thanks for the comment. I too think her bends look very good! This render is just straight out of the box, with some addition of clothes, but I didn't take a close look at her feet. Maybe for some folks she may not yet be perfect... However.. I think she will work very well with renders I myself will create. I am very pleased with her!

She seems to have disproportionately large irises. Not sure if it's texture, UV or model related, but I've seen it in all her promos, so I assume it's the latter. This particular texture set accentuates it with an extra band around the iris.

Here she is compared to an actual, you know, non-digital amazed person.

The expression looks quite natural, I really like it and I am interested in the smile expressions which seem so difficult. I am not so keen on the eyes but then I guess you could say I have an eye fetish as they are so important to me.  If I am doing a portrait I want the eyes to have real reflections something I have achieved with V4 thanks to the work Bagginsbill put in and made public in a thread here.

Lots of eye textures for V4 also have a similar problem with an extra band around the eyes.

Dawn appears to bend well but bending is not a real issue for me, it is the expressions and the eyes that stop me from changing from V4 to any other figure.  That is not to say that V4 is better but over the years I have learnt to work with her faults to get to a point where I can work with the figure.

With this release and the add-ons that have appeared Dawn is beginning to look like the figure I was expecting from day one.  The real plus now is that, with the figure still being developed and the market fragmenting thanks to the increasing number of Genesis figure and other figures, there is a good chance that support for Dawn will grow.   The introduction of this latest edition can only make increased support more likely.

JVR uses Octane.  I'm pretty sure we can safely assume this is an Octane render.

To be fair, I've had to decrease the size of the iris and even the eyes of every figure I've used so far...including the ones made by that other place ;). So having to adjust eyes is nothing new for me and not that big a deal. Glitterati3D is right...it's probably Octane that JV used. I know he uses it a lot.

Dawn's looks are definitely improving with this release. She looks much less "Dawn-ish" ;).

A definite WIP so lots to do and the figure seems very different to work with, but fun.

Nice render Virtual_World. Dawn's fingers look a bit odd. Is it me or does it look like some of the fingers are individually rotated (turned so the finger print is not lined up)?

Finding your way around Dawn is difficult after so many years of V4, or it least it is for me.  Anyway I think I am getting there but I am sure there is so much more to this figure.  This is the next step in trying to develop a character to fit in with my collection based on V4 and I am having fun.

Really lovely renders!

One thing that might help in using Dawn is that all HW morphs are in the body (as well as other parts they affect).

Want to use a cheek morph?  With Dawn's BODY selected, simply go to Actor7_Cheeks1_Morphs in the Parameter tab.

I also strongly suggest that people actually read the ReadMe files :)  I put a LOT of information in there, including where morphs will show up once they're INJ in Poser or the product's installed in DS.

What's new in each version is listed as well as upgrade instructions...

Thanks for the advice, I' ll take all I can get at the moment. I am used to reading the ReadMe files, usually to find out the names the items have gone into the runtime under. I think it is the mixture shaping, actors and the like and then the difference between morphs and controls.  Getting my head around all this is taking time but then I am not the quickest at learning new things. On the plus side I am learning a lot of new stuff, enjoying myself and the potential is clear to see.

Hi !

Just a quick question, sorry for the puritans, is the new Dawn a "realistic" character or just a puppet who can have baby ?

Not trying to be difficult, but I guess the answer would depend on your definition of 'realistic'.  I am in the middle of trying to make the a character that is 'believable' with a lot still to do but this is the progress so far.   I am in the ball park of where I want to be with the face but I am having some problems with the body.  I am used to using V4 which has a separate map for the nipples but with Dawn they are part of the torso.  This being the case if I increase the bump of displacement map I affect not only the nipple but the rest of the torso.  I have limited skills but I have used Paint Shop Pro to modify the torso map to get what I am looking for.  I am sure there are better ways of doing it but there you are.

Keep in mind this rendered in Firefly and is a WIP but it might begin to answer your question.

Hi Anthanasius,

I assume you're asking if Dawn has realistic genitalia and the answer is 'no'.  Hivewire has made it clear that they will not be selling those morphs but that doesn't exclude other vendors creating them and selling them elsewhere.  Of course you'll find those morphs at Renderotica but I don't know how much detail the base mesh has to allow for the creation of very realistic morphing of genitals.

Great Render.  The 'EyeIrisSize' dial is under the body - Shaping - Morphs - eyes.  Not sure on the nipples, I have only been playing for a while, but it would be strange not to be there as there is Actor - Body - Chest that gives all the breast control, unless that came form a third party pack.  I used the 'Dawn Breast Morphs' from Xameva and Meipe here at Rendo.

thanks for the help, Hornet! found the iris controls.

I'm a little baffled by the limits imposed on dial twists. even cranking up a limit in the editor does nothing for a particular morph (nails length for example.) Also, they seem to have modeled in the geometry for nipples but then no morphs??????? I'll have to buy a morph pack now for nipples? I still think she looks great and I'm gonna start using her finally.

When I saw the new merchant resource from 3Dream for Dawn it had to go straight into my runtime. It has impacted the WIP for my Dawn character so this is the latest state of play - expression is the default hence the reason it is a bit bland.
