Attached Link: Need suggestions to improve picture

Hey there! I'm slowly getting my confidence up to post an image, but what I have needs more work. Can anyone suggest some things to give the picture more emphasis? Lighting suggestions, objects to put in, etc. would be very appreciated! Tentative title is Arizona dreaming. Thanks in advance!

I like the title "Arizona Dreaming". Maybe a small Cactus or a garden next to the building will give the image a little more emphasis. I love how it has a painting look to it. How did you do that? Adam

Thanks. The painted quality is due to the materials I'm using. I posted them in the Bryce Free Stuff area a few weeks ago. I'm looking for decent shrubs and cactus that are native to Arizona. The Bryce cactus isn't very good. I just posted the fountain and it's material as well.

The ground texture is a bit too even... I'd suggest applying an image map texture as the bump and painting it quite irregularly. If you've assigned the texture to an infinte plain, try adding a small, flattened terrain, then applying the same texture, then adding your image map as the bump, using the Control-click so that you won't lose that nice brown bump you've got going. You can always use one of the KPT filters along with some noise to refine the texture, too. :) Also, a bit of specularity might work real nice. Maybe also the ambient light could be toned down, and you could increase the brightness of the lights inside the house... I think there are lights there? If not, you could put one in there, turning the brightness down to about 4 or 5. I love the building and the terrain in the background. They have that dreamy, moody look I believe you're going for.

I've been thinking of creating small decorative mounds by the front. It's pretty common in Arizona. When I tried, I had weird shadows. Guess I'll fight with it some more. I'll try lights inside the house. Originally, it illuminated too much. The feedback is really appreciated!

Maybe you could add one of those -- what are they called? Those weird Indian rocks that are supposed to be some kind of totem, and they're found out in the desert. I forget the name right now, but that would be cool to put one in there somewhere. :)

Do you mean the petroglyphs -- images painted on rocks?

Yeah, those. :) I saw one in a museum in Phoenix. They're supposed to be illegal to pick up, and they're very rare. But anything is possible in 3D art LOL. Good luck in your quest!
