Subject: Please help - micro braids and X-men

B_Squared1 ( ) posted Wed, 21 October 2015 at 12:36 AM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 10:56 PM

Hi, all

I was hoping someone could help me. I've been trying to find a hair prop of micro braids like the one in the photos. I have been searching for so long. I'll take it any way I can get it whether it is a ready made prop, a program that can create it or pieced together from multiple props. Any program except photoshop ( because I haven't learned it yet ). Also, does anyone know where I can get or know how to create the X-Men Storm's headpiece. Any suggestions or help given will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Skill level is newbie, but, eager to learn.

Dreads Hair V4/A4/G4, by nikisatez, sold here in the marketplace.

Yvella Hair for Sadie (a more cartoonish style), by Redspark and Littlefox, available at RuntimeDNA.

I think I could model the headpiece in Hexagon. If you don't mind waiting a few hours, I'd be willing to take a shot at it later today.

Okay, you have a choice of flat or convex. If you want these, let me know when to email them.

http://www.daz3d.com/aisha-hair-for-victoria-3 This may be the closest you'll find. Amazingly overpriced though. And you may need to update the textures.

Thank you all for your quick responses. When I made this post it was like " Well, what do I have to lose". I had no idea so many folks would be so helpfull to someone who is just basically starting this steep learning curve. To you, Mr. Little_Dragon - Sir, I am both impressed and at a loss for words. I never thought anyone would take the time to personally make the item I was looking for. I like the convex one - it looks great - Tell me your price and how to send you a pm with my email. Thanks again so much

No charge. Go to my profile page. There's an orange button at the top that says "Contact". Click that to send me a PM.

Thanks again so much

You're welcome.

Hi, false1 - Thanks for your response - I think I have the Aisha hair - can it be made to work on V4

Little_Dragon wins the award for Rendo citizen of the month. I wonder if I might get a copy of the pin as well?

B_Squared1, most hair items can be made to work on other figures. Either conform it to the fig and use the scaling and translating dials to move it and size it, or just load it and parent it to the head, then use your scaling and translating tools. Might as well figure that out cause you'll use it a lot.

Conforming to different figures usually will not repond to translating dials, better off parenting after relocating the hair piece. Convert your display to wireframe mode and translate the hair piece to the figure. Wireframe mode is more responsive and will not lag when spinning dials. Resize the hair piece, then check for poke through in shader mode. Parent to head when done.

Piffle. 'Twas merely an hour well-spent in Hexagon, reacquainting myself with the software.

I wonder if I might get a copy of the pin as well?

Sure. Let me know where to send it.

Yep, LD has always been that kind of person, one of the "true greats" from the early years of this site.
