Subject: What is the script that removes unused morphs?

AsteroidLady ( ) posted Tue, 29 December 2015 at 1:17 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 5:40 AM

Not the ones that just uninject them. There is one that actually removes them so that when the morphs are listed they no longer appear. I used it once, but I forgot what it was, and now I'm picking through all my scripts trying to find it and I haven't yet. It's useful for decluttering a cr2. Thanks.

Ockham's AltDialCleaners2?

Ockham's StripZero?

http://ockhamsbungalow.com/Python/

You can just delete morphs manually also, within Poser, a couple of different ways. It'll propagate to the .cr2 when you re add fig to library. It's (part of) how I generate my blank .cr2's... those ockham scripts might not run in recent versions of Poser. I just do it manually. I think PhilC has something too.

Thanks, I was thinking it was by PhilC but I failed to find it. The Ockham script seems to have done the job but now I think the problem is with CrossDresser, which seems to have memorized the morphs that were there before, even after I deleted the CR2 and saved a new one. The morphs that I wanted to transfer aren't even appearing, it's like it can't take in new information. (I'm using CrossDresser in an unintended way that involves treating V4 as a conforming clothing and converting her to another figure, to make it easier to transfer her morphs to that other figure. It would be easier if she didn't have thousands of morphs. But now CrossDresser has memorized a previous version of her that I tried this with, and I don't know how to make it forget and start over.)

"The morphs that I wanted to transfer aren't even appearing, it's like it can't take in new information."

Not familiar with cross dresser but I do know that the daz figure's morphs are dependant on specific pre existing morph channels being present. It's difficult to determine if you've deleted those necessary channels, if you created your morphs via import morph target (hence new channels created "on the fly" by Poser), or simply copying and somehow pasting existing proprietary morph channels, and how cross dresser deals with morphs, etc. If you've somehow managed to copy and paste Daz readscript morph channels, and then deleted these channels, I imagine the morphs can't find their proper slot? I don't know... I create all of my morphs from scratch and apply as morph target. Honestly I got very frustrated trying to shoehorn my ideas onto other peoples models and jump through convoluted hoops in order to share my efforts, consequently I only work and make stuff for my own models/figures from now on. I can't very well violate my own EULA if you see what I mean.

IIRC you were experimenting with transferring Daz proprietary morphs onto other figures via Cage's scripts. An interesting experiment. Very complex. And totally only permissible for personal use... something like that is bound to have all kinds of "gotcha's" for the casual experimentor, or anyone beside Cage himself. Compound that with using cross dresser for an alternative purpose... and I could see where you wouldn't be in Kansas anymore.

It definitely looks like what has happened is that it saved information about the previous version that I converted. The morphs that I deleted from the CR2 were still appearing, and the newer morph, which was spawned within Poser, wasn't. Since I'm not selling anything and only want to make up imaginary people, I'd rather start with something that already exists and build on top of it.

Betcha PhilC or Cage might have a clue... Haven't seen much of Cage herebouts, I think he might lurk a bit over at RDNA... Thought I saw his name on present members list last night over there.

...So I'm going to see if I can figure out where it's saved to.

mackis3D ( ) posted Tue, 29 December 2015 at 8:58 PM

@AsteroidLady: I think you mean the 'RemoveMorphs.py' script by svdl from the free stuff here. It does what you want and I use it all the time. You can also use it for Genesis figures.

Hey mackis3D, thanks for that link... the Ockham script isn't working for me, assume it's a mac issue. Anyway, saves me alot of tedious "are you sure you want to blah, blah" especially when dealing with deleting a hundred or more morphs. I have a tendency to forget to leave a morphless version of my .cr2's for donor purposes. (I've done it twice in a row). :) Ps. Wouldn't happen to know if this works on jcm? Suppose I could just check inside but just offhand curious.

Not the one I was thinking of because I didn't have that one, but it's a nice one. Thanks for pointing it out.
