It's as simple as the content needs to be merged into your active DS content library.
The catch is that some Macs have a preference to overwrite files and folders rather than merge them.
So you may need to firstly have an app to manage the file merge and secondly rename the top level folder of the new content to match your content library before merging.
There was a thread a few months back that might be helpful. Not sure of age with Mac but Rendoinstall was one way although a four page guide to go with it. Newer Macs the last member to comment on the thread has some valuable input

Maybe this one, - 3rd Party Content Installation Guidance for Mac
Do you know what would be awesome having a sticky at the top of the forum that gave instructions for installing Rendo content on PC and Mac. Considering there are 7 posts that relate to it on the front page here. A lot of the time people are just tired of responding to the same question again and again and I would hate members here to feel as if they're being ignored or only getting very brief answers. It would only help Renderosity in providing a better buyer experience to their customers.
Thanks Razor it is a great idea. I struggled to answer this question before had no choice either as the silence was deafening on the post for the Mac one. I went through the guide and studied it which was like a course. Did not help that my Mac is practically in NSW currently. I will put a call out for anyone that can do a guide for us with the Mac and have it as a sticky here on the Daz forum or probably more suitable a link at the purchase point when you go through the checkout. "How to install your content" The PC one is already on the cards to be done along with a host of other guides for various functions here at Rendo for newcomers etc. My boss has asked me for them so she will be cracking the whip soon I just know it. They will all be up shortly.

Both places would be great for both Mac and PC.
People have a habit of not seeing things when going through store checkouts and It would also apply to freebies too. Realistically most products use to include installation instructions in their product readmes. Somehow customers seem to miss these instructions to :) That's probably not a bad place to start if you're looking for source text on the process. Thoug looking Rpublishing products seems they don't bother with that anymore...
Naturally if they get stuck they will come here.
Hope our community manager is all for suggestions to improve the Rendo experience and this is essential as far as good ideas go. The problem with the checkout is it is in the middle of a transaction and the pages change with each step. You do get transferred back to your account summary page to download your goods so maybe there would be a better spot. A member could read it while they download. :-) If they come unstuck they can come to the Daz forum. I will have to tell Hope it is your idea as it is far too organized to be anything I could conjure up, she will know I stole it from somewhere. No brownie points for me. Whack one up RE: Poser for the newbies as well.

It's pretty much the same as with windows, except that when you drag folder A on top of Folder B, the mac replaces B. It does that because .app files are actually folders that the OS pretends are just files that run when you click on them...and...to update an app, you usually just drag the new one on top of the old. No installer unless you use something from a weird company...like adobe.
So, the big trick is, like Razor42 says, is merging the two. I recommended BetterZip in the other thread, but there are probably others that allow you to extract zip files. Just make sure that they will allow you to extract into a pre-existing directory. A lot of the more common ones try to be smart and create a sister directory named almost the same as the one you chose but with something like "-1" after it.
The other big gotcha is that DAZ zips up the content into a directory called "content", which doesn't need to be there in your runtime. So, let's say you have your runtime called DS4, you would have directories like DS4/data, DS4/people, DS4/Runtime, inside...and not something like DS4/content/people, etc. So, if you are extracting DAZ products manually, you'll need to extract them, and then zip them back up. It's a bit of a hassle, but if you learn to use the command line, you can do what I do and drop all of your zip files into one directory and it will extract everything into a single subdirectory. Then, you can do any file manipulation (I move my stuff around before merging into my main runtime) before doing one big zip and then one big extraction.
I let DIM do all of my DAZ purchases, but anything I get from renderosity or runtimedna goes through my little script and it makes life almost as easy as DIM.
I use an app called RSRConv (RSR Converter) on my iMac. It converts .rsr files from old content to .png. It also allows you to merge folders. Don't remember where I got it but couldn't live without it.
