I think the main reason this thread is so slow is it takes time to make good story animations the one I am working on now is only a 1/3 through and its taken me 6 weeks to render it...lol
that and a lot of people really don't know how to create animation with daz or poser and those who are playing around with it are mostly just test renders with dancing girls in Binki's that run under 5 seconds. those really don;t draw much interest from what I have seen. But we all got to start somewhere.
So it maybe why you see this thread so slow.
Also it take a ton of work to create a animation my last Karate girl animation took me 4 months to make
If anyone is interested you may watch my latest Animation on my youtube. I would have embed it into this thread but there is no option for embedding videos
so you will need to click this link to watch it Karate Girl In Shadows of the past
@PoisinIvy - it takes a lot of time to produce these animations, as you know, and a lot of different things involved in creating them. Not just DS or Poser, but sound design, compositing, color correction, and editing to bring all this together into a finished animation.
Most of my episodes run about 10-15 minutes and it usually takes about month to complete them including script. voice recording (Soundtrack Pro/Logic X), animating and rendering (DS), compositing and effects/color correction (AE) to final assembly (Premier Pro CC 2014) for editing/sound design. It's a lot of work, but a labor of love for me. I now have 3 different shows I run every 1-1/2 to 2 months, alternating with episodes of "SpaceCat", "Secret Agent Cat" and "The Tales of the Pancreatic Duck" and have recently started a new show, a "FatCatAlley Minute" an animated talk show, as well.
Oh yeah, and all this while doing my "Day Job" (web designer/mograph/video production). It really keeps me on my toes!

@AniMajik I know what you mean. . BTW you have a awesome series been watching it for a while.
My Animations take a little bit longer than a month, properly the same reason like you. I have to work as well. and I am just a simple a Graphic artist / Illustrator for DHO in their interactive dept. wasting my talents creating Brochures, and web banners ads for Disney cruises and vacations resorts. The best part of the job is I can work from home 90% of the time. And I kind of fell into a sweet deal doing free lance artistry for people publishing books on amazon making book covers or what ever the artist needs for illustration work . its a lot of fun and I get to let my creative juices flow, I done 12 book covers so far which are all published on amazon . I had worked fa couple of year or so in the graphic design Dept at DHO working with the front end Graphic designers who work on their sites . But a man retired in the Interactive dept and I got shuffled there that i s where I have been for the last 6 years. My animations are just a hobby. That is actually how I found poser & Daz Studio, I needed to create some art work that was just impossible with Illustrator and photoshop my friend told me about poser it was version 4 back then .. Boy was that a long time ago..lol
But I stayed with it ever since. I would not even dare to calculate how much $$$ I have spent on content over the year. But I try to use every bit of it in these animations which is awesome . I use Premiere pro from my creative suite cs 5.5 master collection. I won;t use anything DRM or cloud . its bad enough Im forced to use the Intranet for my job. which totally different that Internet & always giving me issues,. I hate anything that Is Digital right managed or drm,
as far as animation or film experience I don;t have no real film or video experience accept for what I have taught myself making these animation, and what some of the guys had showed me at work giving me some tips & tricks they do for flash games and animation,. I tell you its was a learning curve getting into creating animation...lol that's probably why you don't see a lot of daz and posers users making quality films like you do.
Thank you for the kind words!
I believe I started with poser 3 myself, it was the most "user-friendly" 3D app at the time, though I dabbled with Maya and C4D (still use C4D for motion graphics and After Effects is my main tool.
Like you, I work freelance, AniMajik Productions is my company name since 1973 - yup, sort of dates me! Back then I cut real film and penciled, inked and painted my own cel animation and shot it frame by frame. Those were the days!. When I discovered the potential of digital animation and learned the software it was a dream come true - I could get projects done MUCH faster and without the cost of film. (Back in the '70s a 100' roll of 16mm color was about $40.00 to process, not counting the price of the film itself! and that was only a couple of minutes worth of film)
I am a trained and certified Avid (Media Composer) and FCP editor as well, so I had that advantage. I switched about a year ago to Premiere and found it much like the old FCP 6/7 so was fairly easy for me to pick up. I'm not crazy about the "cloud-based" software rentals either, but as long as clients keep paying me, I'll keep "renting" the tools I need. (I have the older 5.5 suite hanging around just in case)
I think a lot of people starting out in animation are just overwhelmed by the complexity of doing a movie or even a short film when they realize what is needed to produce it. I say start simple, but keep at it! You'll get better the more you practice it. (Like anything else). And my advice to animators (and editors/filmmakers) is story telling is the main objective. Start with a good idea and develop it - the rest will all follow.

Hey all, I recently finished my first complete animation done completely in Carrara, it took a long time to complete but was fun to do. For one person it is a lot of work as I made all the sets ,did the sound , editing etc. In the past I have tried to have get a group of Carrara users together to create a movie as a group, we got off to a good start but it fizzled out in the end. Anyways here is my little movie created in carrara and I am still thinking of ways to get another Carrara Community Movie Project going.
PoisonIvy, animajikgraphics Both of you have done nice jobs on your animations.
@mmoir - Nicely done! I'm sure it took a while to do.
I understand your frustration with the group effort oroject. I have been a part of several such projects in the past and they usually fizzled out before completion. I think the the old adage, "If you want something done right..." (or done at all!) works best for me.
As you do more and more animations, you not only perfect your skills, but find faster and better work flows that allow you to get them done faster as well. I know, I've cut my creation time way down over the years.
Best of luck with your projects!
