Poser 11 (not Pro) Windows 7 64bit Just purchased Poser 11 (not Pro) after a log absence from Poser. Chose not to download any of the Poser content, have plenty of my own better from Rendo and Daz. Updated Poser 11 to most recent update version. I begin loading said content, I can see it in the proper places in Windows Explorer Program Files (64bit)/SmithMicro/Poser11/Runtime et.al.. But, when I launch Poser, none of this shows up in the Library. Can anyone help?

You can no longer install content in the Program Files (64bit)/SmithMicro/Poser11/Runtime , nor anywhere else in the Program Files Hierarchy in Windows versions newer than Windows XP because of Windows' User Account Control.

The default content location is in My Documents, IIRC, but I have mine installed in a folder called D:/Poser Library (C:/Poser Library would work just as well, of you don't have a D Dive ). Create a folder there called Old Stuff or somesuch, and move your old stuff there, then add it to the Poser Library as an external runtime.

I would suggest that you download the Pauline/Paul characters from SM. They are versatile and use the newest features of Poser 11 so that you can learn to apply many of these features to other characters. It can save you hours of learning time.

I avoid all those problems by doing the full install of Poser to the C drive. Never ever into the Programs folder. I have always done this and it makes it so much easier to install either purchased or free content into Poser and place it where I want it to go.

There's no reason anymore to put any content in the Poser program directory Runtime, except for Python scripts that appear in the Scripts menu. If the content is installed elsewhere it can easily be moved or used with any other Poser version without reinstallation or duplication.

Thinking about it; I told the OP to move the content out of there; I hope he didn't move the folders out that were there originally there...

I have survived computer crashes by reinstalling Poser and almost 20 years of content on a external drive. Saved a lot of potential tears.

I apologize for posting a question and then disappearing - I have an elderly neighbor and he had some sudden health issues so I had to get him squared away. Okay, I set everything up in the public document file - I've actually been using Poser since Poser4, and all the succeeding versions and always kept the runtime in the same directory as Poser. How I managed that, I have not a clue, but that probably goes a long way in explaining some of the frustrating issues I dealt with. Next question - As I mentioned, I purchased Poser 11 (not Pro). To this point I've never used Genesis stuff. Does the DSON Installer work in Poser 11? I try installing it via the Daz Downloader, but it does not work. Any ideas?

You need to install the importer to the Poser program folder (it's a python script/add-in, so it lives there) and the Genesis 1,2 & 3 starter essentials to a runtime folder in the Poser Library; I have separate ones for each generation, but whatever suits you.

While I install my Content with DAZ Install Manager, I manually install the Importer; there is an .exe download in your account's Product Library. You will need to run the installer as an Administrator, if your account isn't an Administrator account..

The separate runtime location started with Poser 8, due to UAC being introduced in Windows Vista. As Latexluv noted, for older Poser versions one can install it outside of the C:/Program Files hierarchy ..
