Subject: Daz 4.8 loading saved scenes (or partial scenes-figures) with no textures.

My install of Daz 4.8 is rock solid. I can and do leave it running for weeks at a time with no problems/lock-ups/slow-downs/crashes or other silliness. Even IRay renders perfectly then closes down and gets out of the way. I was somewhat miffed a couple of days ago when I had to reboot it due to the gui going goofy (a tool pallet disappeared). Now, any saved scene or figure loads with most of the textures white. This must be a Daz setting since even stuff that's years old loads the same way. I have a pile (BIG pile) of saved scenes and dressed figures that I can't stand to lose. I'd ask over in Daz but their stupid forum (still) keeps signing me in and out and in and out and....

Can you post a screenshot of the issue please?

Are you sure you haven't set your display to "Smooth Shaded"?

Do the scenes render with textures? If so then CyberDream's suggestion might be what the problem is.

How do you even do that though? By "display" you're not talking about the monitor are you?

I ran into a similar sounding problem as kittykat when DS 4.8 was rendering my character with a bleached out white face or maybe more like a silver face, but it was her face only. No other part of her body, and the eyes, eyelashes, lips & mouth were all completely normal/unaffected. It was only her face skin texture. AND it only happened if I applied a skin vascularity LIE, that ironically put no vascularity(blood vessels)on her face. Otherwise, her face skin texture is fine. Still don't know what's up with that. I contacted the Vascularity product creator, who said he didn't know why that was happening either. He said he would check into it further, so still waiting to hear back from him.

I suppose "preview" is the actual term instead of "display". This menu sets how the current scene appears on screen. It does not affect the rendered image

on the signing in and out problem, I find that if you sign into the store BEFORE you go to the forum that bug never happens..

I'm afraid that it didn't make any difference. The only way I can even read the forums is to stay logged out.

CyberDream....I verified that I've got Texture shaded selected. That was the first thing I checked. It's odd that recent saves load fine with all textures. It seems to be saved scenes and items (dressed figures) that where saved prior to the last startup of Daz (could be weeks ago?) that are affected. I'll try a render tonight.

Renders with any render engine show the same thing, an almost complete lack of textures. Loading IRay textures makes no change. Argh, maybe it's time to look at Poser again. The only reason I don't use Poser more is because it crashes so much/all the time/continuously/if I look at it funny.

you should look in the log to see if it reports any exceptions when you load a scene. Usually there is a popup if it can't find or load a texture, but that should also be in the log
