Subject: Render Engine Failure Error with G3M/G3F

morphious ( ) posted Wed, 23 March 2016 at 7:16 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 1:34 PM

Very Strange. I can have a full scene like a living room with couches, pictures, rugs, etc, using G2F/G2M with hair and Gens attached, Renders fine. BUT, if I use the G3F/G3M with hair, Gens, etc attached, iRay fails, and Octane Render gives me a Render Engine Failure Error. Are the G3 Characters harder on the GPU? I have a GeForce 690 4gb RAM, over 3,000 cuda cores. I can render a single G3F or G3M, but after adding hair and gens only, gets really sluggish. Then if I add a prop, or a whole scene, forget it. Again with the G2M/F characters it's fine. Got the latest plugin, latest drivers, etc. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks.

Are you using a higher sub-division level with the Genesis 3 figures?

Not sure what u mean. I didn't change anything when loading

Defaults should not be an issue in that respect. Unfortunately I don't have Octane and that's the only thing that immediately occurred to me as a possible issue.

Hi, Just a guess but are you rendering with just the GPU? Is the CPU checked in the render options? I have had this happen to me when the GPU runs out of memory and the CPU is not checked in render options.

Yea, just CPU. But in Octane you can only render from GPU and I gave scene 10GB of out of core textures to help.

I mean Just GPU, Sorry
