Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 02 11:49 pm)
My suggestion would be to use the Hierarchy window and parent each link to the next; then hit the create new figure button at the bottom. This will make a simple figure and save it in the new figures folder of your default runtime. Then you can load, duplicate and move as required. Alternatively search for PhilC's website and look for AllTiedUp - that tool can be used to build poseable figures from individual parts like chains, ropes etc.

Thanks guys, I'll take a shot with your suggestions. The issue of copyright software code (because of it) the aspect of "intuitive" user friendly work flow, it starts going away. Well....That production goes away it. I sling 3D graphics for a living. Like a pizza chef that slings dough for a living and he's getting slammed by customers. Poser is a Poser, if you catch my meaning.
When adding multiple props to the library, a dialogue box opens that asks you to name your prop. If you click "select subset", you then get the entire list of all the props in the scene in a hierarchy menu. Just click the ones you want to add all together. Then, when you load the prop from the library, you'll load the entire set that you selected. Easy peasy.
If you want to use the duplicate function to duplicate a whole set of props, however, it will only give you the one you have selected. You'll have to do as already suggested -- make a null figure and parent the props to it. Then when you hit duplicate, it will duplicate all the props.

I modeled some Steel Chain Links. Got about 9-10 all straight and nice. But I need a very long steel chain in my model. I'm like "Come on now, there's got to be a way, to put these 10 chain links in the library as a group, then just start bringing the short length of chain, till I've got the over length I'm looking for. So I built a "New Grouping". Made all the links a parent to the new group. Then told it to add the New Group to the Library. And when I bring it.....NOPE. HEY POSER....You Blow. So I highlighted Group 1, and selected "Duplicate Group 1". NOPE.....doesn't work. Something as simple, intuitive as selecting multiple objects and quickly "multiple them like rabbits". What are my friggin options. (LOL)
