Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Silly question. Did you delete the folders before or after launching Poser. If you deleted them AFTER loading poser you may have to re-start Poser for it to take effect. Also ... an I'm not sure of this P7 is one version I never had. if you highlight a folder you want to "delete" in the library, there may be (it is this way in the versions I have) a minus - sign. that could also delete the folder from within Poser.

Waitaminute, there is no convenient way to delete folders from within Poser, even in Poser 11 Pro. I can remove files, but not folders.
That's the sad fact. And if you do it manually on your desk top, it triggers a big reindexing in my experience.
What I'm interpreting from the screencaps is Poser 7 has been installed into Program Files under Window 7, a definite no-no with OS Vista and above. I am also imagining that content is/was installed into the primary download runtime. Now, with current Win OS's after Vista, UAC will restrict any read/write activity into Program Files folder, and, where Poser is concerned, any content installed into that folder will be placed into a virtual location. I don't remember where that location is, but this issue might be related.

Yes Poser has been installed in the (x86) Program files folder. Is that bad?
No, if the Poser program is installed without content; yes, if content is loaded into the same parent runtime. Window UAC prevents write backs to files in that location, and shutting down UAC will leave your system vulnerable to malware attacks. In addition, you will have problems accessing content files, and saving character, props, poses and textures. And if anything manages to get saved back to the Poser Library, you will not find it in the Poser runtimes but rather in a virtual location, For that reason, the most current versions of Poser will install content in a shared folder location away from Program Files.
My bet is that MarianneR is on the right track. Can you categorically confirm that in the Poser screenshot you selected the Downloads library, and not the main Poser library?
If so, try hitting the 'up one level' button, then closing and re-opening Poser.
Edit: also, check (in Windows Explorer) what folders are present in the path: ... \ Poser 7 \ runtime \ libraries \ character

Reading hborre's reply I think that they are right, and my guess was wrong. It doesn't work when the content is installed in one of the C:/program files folders in Windows 7. I don't remember if the Poser 7 installer will allow you to install the program itself and the contents in different folders. One easy way to solve the problem is to install the lot outside of the program folders. My Poser program is installed to C:/Poser

Hello
I installed Poser 7 after not using it for about a year. I am using Windows 7. I notice that the library is showing folders that have been deleted. (See Attached)
The folders "AntFarm" and "DAZ 3 Aiko" should be deleted because they are not in my directory. (See Attached)
I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalled it but it hasn't changed anything.
Anyone know how to fix this?
