Almost all Poser objects are in .OBJ format, usually found in the Geometries folder. You can import these into Blender. However you will need to scale them up in order to work with them - I usually go x 10 - because of Poser's ridiculously tiny scale. If you wish to create morph targets, you will need to maintain vertex order as well. There are heaps of tutorials on importing .OBJ files into Blender: check on YouTube.

If you have DAZ Studio (which is free) and your Renderosity item also works in DS (most, but not all, do) then mCasual has a DS script to handle the exporting and a companion Blender script that then automatically imports it and sets up basic Cycles materials. The latest version of both scripts is here: https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts4/mcjteleblender3 (download button is all the way at the bottom of the page). I personally have no Poser v DS preference, but I really like that script and thought I'd point out another option. :)

EDIT: It occurred to me after posting, that maybe we are not allowed to post a link like this - mods, please let me know if that is the case and I will remove it.

Hi MDO2010 That link is ok I think I have posted it myself a few times for those looking for it.

To lincustodis there are many tutorials a few listed in the welcome to the Blender forum thread that deal with using Poser with Blender it some take practice some you have to fine tune to your own work flow one. Tony Vitters recently did 2 tutorials on making morphs for Poser characters with in Blender. The script that MDO2010 mentioned above in his post on mCasual site he did have a tutorial at one point on how to modify a couple of lines with in his script to be able to use the same steps to import a Poser Scene into Blender for rendering with cycles. Currently the newest version of Poser 11 has introduced the cycles render engine in to Poser calling it Superfly render so depending on what you wish to accomplish there is usually away to do it to make Poser and Blender work together

Since Studio doesn't really use Cycles, are you saying that the script interprets the Iray or 3 Delight mats into Cycles shaders?

Mythic3D ( ) posted Thu, 11 August 2016 at 5:34 PM · edited Thu, 11 August 2016 at 5:38 PM

Yes, kind of. I've only used it with 3Delight materials but I think it works with Iray materials too. What is does is, once it finishes importing the object from DS, set up a basic Cycles material for each surface the object had in DS. The material is just a basic mix shader for each DS surface using any diffuse, bump and transparency maps the object had in DS. The exact amount of the mix seems is set in the interface for the script when you run it and is the same for all materials so it does require some tweaking in Blender, but just having the basic mix created for you on import is a huge time saver.

The only downside to using the script is that it transfers everything by exporting OBJs from DAZ Studio so they are static and unrigged in Blender, so you need to make sure that if you are using a figure with moving parts that you have it set-up how you want it before running the script in DS (not really a big issue for things like drawers and doors since you can just move them around in Blender, but important to remember for figures like Victoria or Michael).
