Subject: Icons not responding/ghosting

Recently while using photoshop my icons in the side tool bar (laso ,smudge etc) and the commands at the top of Photoshop(file ,edit, image etc) have stopped working .When i open an image and try to duplicate the image creating another layer nothing happens. It would normally duplicate that layer .Once i click the icon to carry out the command it leaves all my other icons useless .i can't even close Photoshop when I click on the X in the top right hand corner of the program..I have tried uninstalling Photoshop and reinstalling it and this did not work either. The only way I can close the program is through the task manager .I have 16GB of ram on my system so i feel it would not be a memory issue .Does anybody have any ideas as to what is going on with Photoshop?

tuxedomask, I've had that happen to me in Photoshop before, but usually when I close it and open it back up it starts back working again. Are you using a Mac or a PC, and are you using a Wacom tablet? Have you installed any Photoshop plugins lately? Plugins can make Photoshop go haywire. I had a plugin that would make Photoshop close every time I started it. I read something that said that maybe the mouse or any other input devices you're using in Photoshop could be causing Photoshop to do that and to try to move them to different USB ports and see if that corrects the problem. Maybe the links below will help you.

You're welcome tuxedomask! I hope something from those links work for you. If none of that works, then we'll keep searching for other remedies. 😄

Ah I use PS 2015.5 If it had been that I would have suggested updating Creative Cloud...and updating PA that way. Don't know if CC handles CS6.

Hope you find your fix soon!
