Subject: G3F UV's on V7, etc

matt1 ( ) posted Sun, 11 September 2016 at 7:04 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 4:42 AM

Hey all. I'm a long time Poser user, since Poser 4 going back 16 years. I recently crossed the picket line and committed myself to learning Studio. So far it's been mostly painless, just learning terminology differences and where to find stuff. Mainly I'm interested in the G3 figures and their capabilities which have wowed me so far. My question is, has anyone had success using V7, Teen Julia, Mei Lin etc body shapes with the G3F UV's? Is it possible? I've searched this topic in several forums and on google with no real answers. Thanks.

You should be able to mix skins and shapes as long as you have the shape and UVs you want to use.

I'm sure, but I'm curious about any special processes that need to be applied first.

No there's no special process its one of the advantages of the genesis range. As long as you have V7 then you have her UV's load Genesis 3 female spin the dials to the shape you want and apply V7 skin you want. If you have Rune 7 (for example) you can dial in V7's shape but use the Rune skin.

What I'd like to do is use the V7 shape with the standard UV's, not the other way around.

It's the same figure so you are free to mix and match. Of course in extreme cases you may see texture stretching, but that's true on a figure with only a default UV set too.

What I'd like to do is use the V7 shape with the standard UV's, not the other way around.

In this case just load Genesis 3 Female and use the dial to dial up the Victoria 7's Shape onto the base figure. This will give you what you are looking for.

You can also control which UV set is in use for each surface of your object or figure through the surface tab setting "UV Set" which allows you to select from the UV Set that you have installed, such as for different characters. You can even mix UV Sets across the different figure surfaces if required, though this may cause seaming issues if not done with consideration of the seam splits.

You can also load custom UV set's onto the figure by going to EDIT/FIGURE/GEOMETRY/LOAD UV SET.
