Subject: Problem with Unhide Parameter Dial Script

Kinder-1 ( ) posted Fri, 09 September 2016 at 10:00 AM ยท edited Tue, 03 December 2024 at 1:23 PM

Hi, I have Poser Pro 2012. I recently bought Lyrra's M4 Child Dial from the Renderosity store. In order to use this product I need to unhide the parameter dial for M4 but then learned that my version of Poser does not have this facility. After some research I downloaded a free python script from Dimension 3D to rectify this. However when I try to run the script Poser crashes. Any advice welcome.

Have you contacted Dimension 3D?

Sorry I realise that I have described the problem inaccurately. When I run the script get a pop up of two columns of dials - one says hide the other show. The actual parameter dial on the figure is not altered. It is when I try to inject the product from Lyrra that Poser crashes.

ok... I thought the pro versions of didn't need the script, but if you can give me the link to the freebie, I'll download everything and test for you... It will be later in the day before I can get to this, due to existing work load!

Thanks donnena for your help on this. The M4 Child Dial read me said that you needed to expand the parameter dial options to reveal the hidden values by clicking on the white arrow or right clicking before loading the product. Otherwise it wouldn't work. When I did this the unhide option was absent. I subsequently googled the issue and found a Poser forum on Daz where the same problem had been discussed. Apparently some versions of Poser do have the unhide option (including some old ones) but some don't and that includes Pro 2012. This Daz forum suggested downloading the script and gave links which is what I did. As I say when I run the script I get the two columns as shown in the freebie description but I'm not sure what to do next. The parameter dials do not show the hidden values.

Hi Andy Basically I just want to be able to use Lyrra's M4 Child Dial in Poser Pro 2012 - so any solution is welcome.

Hello!
I understand!!! I am in a huge puddle of guilt here, because I am swamped and can't carve out the time to load the python and try to help you! Have you contacted Lyyra? She's really a very sweet lady!

I know this is no help, but you're on my To Do list. I do need to know if you're version of PP 2012 is up to date? Do you have all the released patches for it?

Andy. Guilty!

Hi Andy, Sorry for delay - I've been on holiday. I did update my Poser Pro 2012 but my computer died last year and when I installed PP 2012 from my disk onto my new computer I have never got round to installing any updates. Should I do this? If so how do I do it as I've forgotten.

thanks John

Hi Andy - sorry to be a pain. I've found the updates (thank you). There seems to be 2 for my version of poser - SR3.1 and SR3.2 - Do I need to install both or does 3.2 already include 3.1
Thanks

All you need is the latest update.

Poser 5, 6, 7, 8, Poser Pro 9 (2012), 10 (2014), 11, 12, 13

Kinder-1 ( ) posted Mon, 24 October 2016 at 7:29 AM

Hi Andy, I've installed the SR3.2 update but this hasn't resolved the problem. There is still no unhide option when I click on the arrow by the parameter dial. Also when I run the script I still just get a pop up list which does not do anything. However I've just bought the ultimate teenager set from Renderosity and this is working well so I now find I do not really need Lyrra's product any more. Thanks for your efforts and I'm happy that you've prompted me to install the update so my Poser Pro is working better and this has at least achieved something.

Hi Kinder, when you get the popup list, do you select the items in the Show list you want to unhide, as that's how they get unhidden. You have to choose which items you want unhidden, as there might be more than just the one you're interested in, and then click on the Show button at the top of the list. Then when you look in the Parameters tab, the hidden files should show up under the "hidden" list.

I use D3D's script fairly often, and have not had any problems with it.
