Thickness is fine for British bacon but the cut is wrong. Materials? I'd go with Ghost's suggestions, or at the very least add a little specular shine.

You know you have the materials correct if your dog tries to jump into your screen.

If it's rendered in Superfly, I'd add a slight gloss node to both the englsh muffin and bacon. In Firefly, I'd add a slight reflective node value. Also the corners of the bacon are too round. They need to be sharper, maybe half the thickness. Otherwise, being from the southeast US, I'd have to say that's not bacon, but streak-o-lean.
the specular map is wrong
for cooking or just cooked it looks wet.
for crisp bacon that's set for a bet it's more of a mat flat.
even with perfect maps ,still half to render perfectly.
google has plenty of example picks

If EZ Skin can't be fooled, you could always apply a "Bacon" shader to the figure of your choice then paste it onto your bacon model.
Hmmm, I wonder if Anastasia's tongue would make a good starting point?

So? It's bacon! What's the problem?
Mrs Therapy served up bacon rolls yesterday. As you can see from the pic I posted, our bacon is somewhat chunkier than the stuff you guys have. Our local store sells dry cured stuff which doesn't shrink, either. Nom!

A few years ago I made a procedural for a bug that accidentally looked like bacon. <<< clickable link to my gallery
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Awesome, BB!
But I just bet they taste like chicken. ;)

There are many food products here and other places, but they all seem to lack that "real" look. Most of the stuff looks dry and cardboard. How would you add a moisture layer or at least get the stuff to look like you might want to eat it. No offense meant to the artist that created this product, as I love it, but this as an example.
