Subject: Attaching 2 hair props to same figure

DocMatter ( ) posted Mon, 13 March 2017 at 8:35 PM · edited Thu, 01 August 2024 at 11:00 AM

Is there a way to attach 2 different hair props to the same figure? Usually, whenever you try and apply a new hair prop, the existing one (if there is one) disappears. I want to try and combine parts of 2 different hair props onto one figure. Is it doable? Thanks!

How are you applying the hair pieces? I just tried with 2 hair pieces and both appeared on my V4. I double clicked on the image icons in the Library. However, if you use the single check at the bottom of the Library to add the content to the scene, it will replace rather than add. Double check will add to the scene.

In the Hair library I only have the single check available, no double check is there. I only see the double check when I'm in the Figures category. Ever since Poser 4 up to PP2014 that I'm on now .hr2 files replaced each other. I just changed all my .hr2 by renaming them to .pp2 and placing them in the Props category. Now I can add as many as I want. I don't know if this has changed with Poser 11.

The culprit is in the hair file: It's the internal name "figureHair". Poser recognizes the tag and replaces any previous prop hair with the new one. Just rename the "figureHair" to e.g., "figure_Hair" and you can add as many hair props as you wish. Remember that it occurs three times per file: Twice near the top, as "prop figureHair", and then again at the end of the file as "addActor figureHair" You must rename all three.

A much easier way is:

Load the hair prop into an empty scene then save it back to the Props library.

Or, if you want to have it as a smart prop, load into the scene with your desired figure, then save out as a smart prop.

Simples.

Or, you could load one hair, unparent it, load the other and reparent the first. I did that with this one because I needed the ponytail sticking out further than it's morphs allowed, so I showed the skullcap of one and the ponytail of the other and angled it.

I still think just renaming .hr2 to .pp2 is the easiest and quickest way - not just because it's mine :P

Or just create your hair as if they were clothes, so you can conform 2 at the same time.
