I use Magix' "Movie Edit Pro", which comes with some templates for short videos: Action, Adventure, Blockbuster, Mysterious, etc. They consist of background stills/videos, placeholders where you insert your stills and/or animation clips, music, and editable text. There are some tutorials at YouTube, and I'm pretty sure they are usable only in Movie Edit Pro. I used the "Adventure" template to create this trailer:

I use SONY Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0. My stuff tends to be 72:25 aspect.

Nice video, I also saved a bunch of captures from that game, then never got around to using them. Pretty good cast you have there, Max Von Sydow, Christopher Plummer ... must have been expensive. 72:25?

72:25 is Cinerama. My Skyrim videos get close to that (if I have letterbox turned on). Some of them are still just boring 16:9 footage.

Ah, Cinerama. My "Movie Edit Pro" does not offer that as a preset. A Google search turns up a reference to a Psalm, so I thought it was "Biblical Proportions", as in "a flood of Biblical proportions" ...
Which reminds me of Bryce's image size presets, one of which is "Imax". I recall a posted image in that proportion that was just two flashing dots. Took me a while to get the joke, and the poster had to explain it eventually.
I do all my my video editing in 16:9. That is YouTube's format, besides their 4:3 format. At least on their US side of things.
My CG video sources are PNG sequences in 72:25. My editor pads in letterbox so that YouTube will allow their uploads.

Magix is taking the editor in another direction. All my plugins work just fine with what I have.

What direction is that? I'm mostly a Premiere user. I just love the way Premiere can stitch seperate tracks together if I want it to. I wish Vegas had that ability. The only other one I see that can do it is Final Cut. I was hesitant to upgrade my version of Vegas too, but I ended up needing UHD and 4K support, so had no choice. All the BCC and Sapphire plugins worked with it, so I'm happy with it so far.
Edit to say: Oh, and the Prores and HEVC support in Vegas14 finally! No more transcoding workarounds.

That's a slick monitor! Congrats. I don't have a Sapphire card either, I meant the Sapphire video fx plugins by GenArts. If your computer is four years old, but still does everything you want it to as fast as you want it to, then it's not a fossil for you! The problem is, hardware is improving so fast, any computer over a year old can be considered obsolete. For example, if I want to get the latest Intel Kaby Lake or AMD Zen processors, I need to get a new motherboard and I will need to be using Windows 10. Even if I am perfectly happy with Windows 7 and it's supported for the next couple years, the hardware forces me to upgrade my OS.
using text effects (sony 11) frustrating.
want it to flip by once in like 4 seconds, changing duration from 10 to 3 makes it flip flip by multiple times, is only funny the 1st time

looking at buying a 21:9 monitor for video editing. it's my favorite movie ratio, adds a epic-ness to cgi movies
