Nice!! you put alot of work into this figure I hope you get to see it realize its potential in an application better suited for Advanced figures

Autodesk Max is the industry standard and if you decide to delve into Character Animation you will so glad you have the figure rigged in Max.

If you are still have Max installed, please try Corona Renderer A6 which is free renderer and I rate this renderer very highly, yes their commercial Corona 1.4 is better, but is not free

https://corona-renderer.com/blog/corona-alpha6-is-out/

And if you have this installed then I would suggest this

http://www.racoon-artworks.de/CoronaConverter/CoronaConverter.html

Its converter of materials,I use this to convert V-RAY materials to Corona mats

Hope this helps

downloaded, thanks!

Thanks, I have that feeling too. To be fair, Poser is also pretty advanced but so bloody unreliable. btw I do see where Poser gets its influence from, I see many parallels.

materials are going to be a bit of a challenge in max though!!

Hi Ero

I use mostly Corona Renderer for my renders if I do renders in 3DS MAX,you can check NOX Renderer which is free too or FurryBallRT which is GPU renderer,or if you have AMD GPU or GPU which offers good OpenCL performance then have look on AMD FireRender which is free plus there are few others render engines which are free and offers good performance and have great features like is FStormRender which is currently free

But Mental ray which is supplied with 3DS MAX is good too, sometimes I use this renderer as he offers good SSS and some good effects, but mostly come down to what I want to achieve

Regarding the materials and challenge with this, this shouldn't be problem if you have two monitor setup, you can drag and drop to the scene any material or you can drag and drop to the material editor slot etc When you start to use 3DS MAX more and more, this will be so much faster

My scenes are pretty much very high poly and have sometimes 45 people with applied all sort of modifiers like smoothing/turbosmooth and subdivision/subdivide and previously I've run 32GB RAM which hasn't been enough at all, right now I'm on 96GB RAM and hopefully I will be OK for time being

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

hey boys and girls. Project E works in p11 again, thanks to Chuck's great efforts. P11 will help speed things up (also for my comic work).

While my comics are rendering, I'll set some time aside to round this girl off as best I can. No more crazy stuff.

Oh and she'll probably also be available for DS at some point!

Thank you for your patience!

Since I've recently moved to the UK, PE will be a reality soon. I know I've been talking about her for a long time and some people might have given up by now, but it is what it is. I won't bother you here until the end is in sight. If you want information about PE's progress, check Smith Micro's forums or CGbytes' forums.

Erogenesis,

This is really excellent! It's so good to see that you're picking it up again!

I think lots of people will be really keen on this. My art is also comic based - usually (see below) and I like to be as realistic as I can, even for the comic characters!

I love the V4 model and have invested years creating my own characters, modding them, etc.

I can't keep up with all the new DS characters - I tried Genesis, A6, etc. but I use Poser and love it, especially for comics.

As soon as I start to think I'm getting up-to-speed with the mass of new commercial characters, along comes another one... or two... I can't keep up time wise or financially.

I think this is great project, please persevere, you will be successful...

I'd be happy to contribute whatever I can to help make this a success... Let me know if you need any help testing, or anything.

Small update guys:

The alpha (in-house beta) was sent out last week and so far positive responses. Its just a small group of trusted collegues. We're checking the basics over, not just the figure but also the package/content design.

I have the feeling that PE might make an unusual impression because PE is not just a figure, its more of a package with complementary stuff to make sure she's effective out of the box, and the whole thing needs to work for it to actually be effective. I'm not going to disclose too much yet if you don't mind. Of course whether she will enough of a impact to be adopted by the Poser community remains to be seen.

I'm waiting on a few more replies and then I'll put together the official beta which will reach a larger group of testers. Please hold your horses though, I have had a LOT of offers for testing!

Android or ios? If android, I just say "ok Google, txt name.........."

Or you can use Google keyboard or SwiftKey etc.. They do voice as well.

As for desktop, you can use the windows voice system (built in under acessabity options) or something like dragon natural...

(If you are on android) there are many free keyboard apps in the google play store that give you much bigger keys when typing on your device I imagine there are similar options for IOS.

And if you do not have the option of tethering your Desktop to your mobile devices internet connetion ,I have this app that mirrors your android device to your PC desktop but recognizes your PC key board for typing.

FYI the alpha was approved about a week ago, I'm busy putting together the official beta package. This will hopefully be a nice and testable representation of what I want the final product to be like, or at least to give some artists and vendors a firm idea of what to expect.... and hopefully weed out any issues that can still be sorted at this late hour.

Still a bit to do. I'm nervous!

The reason I ask is I have gobs of animations I've made with V4 over the years, would love to be able to just drop your girl into existing scenes. BTW, how tall is your girl in feet/inches? My girls range from 5' to 5' 7".

Some poses work a bit, others for some reason mess with the joints. I want to make a script that either converts V4 poses to PE or loads them properly. I've also been wanting this script badly since I made LOADS of poses for V4 too. If I manage I'll add it to the base pack.

BTW, how tall is your girl in feet/inches? My girls range from 5' to 5' 7".

She's almost the same height as V4, I did that to make it easier to convert hair props and figures for her, among other things. But she'll have dials to help you get the height you want.

Hi erogenesis,

Just a salute for your persistance, care, patience and ambition on this project. I will be headed in when you release. I don't need "confirming clothing," since I render nudes or with dynamic clothing, which do not have to be model-specific.

I am a V4 champion. On thing that could lead me to move to a new base model: Hands. V4 hands/fingers/joints are horrible. Just awful. None of the add-on products solve the issues with joints, false bends, crab-fingers, and un-lovely shape.

Have you put time into E's hands? I'm concerned over this image ... fingers.jpg

Many thanks.

Yes, hands are very tricky which is why they change with every iteration. The picture above was indeed not very good. They have already improved a lot since, but I'm leaving the final edit until the very last because there much more that I need to focus on at the moment that could change the mesh... and I don't want to have to redo something as crazy detailed as the hands lol

This is the way they look at the moment, but they will get changed, like I said. Cheers!

Sup folks? Thanks for the kind remarks and compliments!

Quick update: some essential components of Project E have been completed, among others the base mannequin that will help people convert their stuff to PE. But what's also fun to show is the facial rig I worked on yesterday. You might have seen it at work before in older renders of PE but now its become even more sleek. All the expressions above are pure weight-mapped face handles (no dials used. Handles are p10 compatible) and they work together to give the face an organic feel. I'll try get hold of some screen cap software to make a video of how the rig works.

Its still w.i.p and probably will be until the last minute. I wouldn't be surprised if one of her updates would include extra face handles... trust me, once you've played with these handles, you'll want more!

So like I said now that the base is more-or-less done, its time to play! I'm just making some extreme morphs for in the beta package so that folks can get an idea of what the mesh is capable of handling. So below is yesterday's attempt at approaching the whole cartoony / elf thing. These are a load of different morphs getting shown here, like almond eyes, eye size, slant, iris size, nose morphs, mouth morphs, some jaw morphs, and of course the long elf ears. This is just a tiny selection of what I hope to make available for the face. Materials and hair are also trials that can become part of the final product.

@operaguy: nope, no V4 textures. I was hoping to do that but I think DAZ will go to town on my ass lol! But there are plenty of things we can do to make use of your old textures, and indeed if we can get Blacksmith3D on board, that would be killer!

Anyways, small update: face proportion morphs, with animated origins, very detailed, and asymmetric options too. An example of the detail would be:

  • eye region XYZ Left and right
  • eye base XYZ Left and right
  • eye socket XYZ Left and right
  • not to forget scaling, and rotations
  • same for mouth, nose, jaw, ears, teeth, chin, lower face, whole face, etc...

Renders below aren't the best examples, but you can get a rough idea. I'll get better ones up soon.

These are just proportions, not actual shapes yet. That's next.

This is not a DAZ product. These are simply .jpg files! Is it actually a copyright violation or license breaker to use a conversion program (or do by hand) to convert the .jpgs to the correct mapping for another model?
