I kind of gave up jumping through hoops to get Daz3D's G3s to work inside Poser Pro 11, and have decided to forego investing in assets for those and subsequent figure series. I don't have any agenda other than than serving my own software familiarity, in this case, Poser.
I admire the good work done by creators for the Daz3D series of figures, and still use their 4 series and 3 series figures if required.
Eternal Hobbyist
I must admit, I do still LOVE G3F and G3M and some products for G8 are also very nice, but nothing really that makes me want to stop using and buying content for G3F and G3M. Daz3d has pushed out G8 to quick, the latest version of Daz Studio is full of bugs. Not a happy camper. I much MUCH prefer the skin of G3F and G3M over this strange looking ghoulish skin with the dead eyes of G8. I wonder if the vendors who create for G8 really know how to use dual lobe in the latest version of DS because some of the skins look just awful. I do not blame the vendors as I believe no one was given a documentation as to how to use the new and shiny dual lobe thingymabob.
G8 should have been fully developed before letting her loose on the public and at least a small pdf that explains how to actually make G8 skin look good or at least ok. Those eyes look like painted on.

Well, I can tell you that I will be continuing to support G3, with G8 as an add-on of sorts, in most cases, but maybe not all, so stay tuned!
I am so very happy that you will continue your beautiful creations for G3F with, the bonus of G8:) I work with G8 but my heart belongs to G3, not only because I spend so much money on G3 , mainly G3F but also because I find her more appealing in her physique. I might grow to like G8 more in the future when some changes have been made or we, the users of DS get behind the secret that is * dual lobe * and how to use it. Thank you Rhiannon.
It seems like every generation we get these same threads of how people will not support a newer generation and that's your choice. However, the newer generation will still take over the old until the next generation. I don't see this changing for this generation either. Forum members make up a small portion of the buying population so vendors will ultimately go with what sells and not what someone posts. So like every generation, vendors are either going to keep up with demand or get left behind because it's the customers that drive whats made, not the other way around.

True, but like any sample from any population, you can make reasonable judgements and assumptions to adjust your marketing strategy. Telling a customer who is vocalizing displeasure about something to pound sand cause "who needs ya", is neither reasonable or sound marketing strategy.

You may note that I wasn't trying to direct the efforts of any vendor. Merely stating my intentions to vote with my dollars. Daz is flailing around trying to keep their doors open and as a result releasing sub-standard product. I choose not to participate. I have continued to support the vendors that offer what I choose to purchase and will continue to do so.
I do appreciate the discussion and opinions of all that have looked in and those that commented. Factual customer marketing feedback is the most valuable thing a vendor can get and sometimes the most difficult to acquire.

That's not what I said. However, vendors are ultimately going to follow what customer demand is like any free market, so we shouldn't try to threaten or beat up on vendors either who are simply trying to pay their bills. It's more reasonable to blame other customers that decide what is made than vendors that are trying to meet that demand.

I apologize then, Terrence if I mischaracterized your intentions, but honestly, that's what it sounded like to me. I don't think placing blame on customers is either productive or sound strategy. It tends to leave a bitter taste in their mouth. A vendor once said something to me that I didn't take too well, and that's one of the reason's I first started to learn to model. I admit I'm probably not as good a modeler as you, but a lot of the stuff I used to have to buy, I can now make and now that vendor and others, have now lost my business. Probably didn't put them out of business, but as much as I hear vendors whining about not being able to pay their bills, antagonizing the paying customers doesn't seem to be the way to go.
But then who exactly would be the cause of one product being more popular than another? Again, vendors respond to customer's demand and there will always be a section of customers that will not be serviced because that's how the free market works. In the smartphone market place, why would a windows phone owner blame the developer of a mobile app on IOS because more customers bought into itunes than the zune marketplace? At the end of day a content developer is going to develop for what makes them money to cover costs and we as customers have to understand that and not be upset by people wanting to make a living. Helping someone understand how the market works should not be considered antagonizing them. Realistically a customer can only vote with their wallet, but even the best products are eventually updated, especially in software technology. At that point the customer can choose to not to update or not depending on their needs. I still have my iphone 5s and I have no need to update it now, but eventually I will as needs change.

Having spent a few bucks here over the last 13 years I want to give you all a "heads up" as to my future purchases. I will not be purchasing ANYTHING for G8F/V8. If the item is created specifically for her, I'm out and will not be spending my dollars for that product.
Personally, I'm staying with G3F/V7 and will not be playing the "Daz Game". Daz is failing miserably, their content has declined precipitously and nobody wants to buy them. Why should I, or any other customer, invest our money in a failing product. G3F is well established and with the right add-ons can use almost everything from V3 forward.
I'm not alone in this position and urge you to consider your target market while you diligently recycle all your old content to G8F. I will continue my support for the vendors who continue to produce product for V4 to G3F, as well as my annual vendor recognition award.
I urge you to consider my position in planning your future product offerings.
Thanks for your attention, Mike (MustangMike)
