Subject: Animation & VFX program in NY / Boston

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for an animation and vfx course for the film industry in the area of Boston or New York. I already have some formation in 3D design and rendering since I studied Industrial Design, but I'd really like to start learning about animation and visual effects. I'm looking for a one year general program, in order to study all the disciplines (modeling, rigging, animation, texturing, lighting, effects, compositing...) and after that I'd specialize in one of them by myself.

I'd really appreciate any advice or information about schools, courses, etc... you could give me!

Thank you very much!

There are many courses out there, and a lot of great online courses in Animation/VFX. Since you are specifically looking in the New York area, you may want try: http://learn.lafilm.edu/animation-vfx/?src=GOOGLEPRSCA&course=campus&program=BSAVE&lid=Desktop-Phrase-animation_courses if you are looking for a degree in VFX/Animation. (I am in the L.A. area, so can't vouch for the above. My accreditations are in editing and motion graphics, and many local and online courses.)

If you'd prefer online courses, there are a lot available. Just do a google search for "animation and VFX". Some are accredited courses.

This industry is a varied field. Animators can specialize in modeling, texturing, animation, etc. VFX artist can be compositors, Digital FX, or Motion Graphics. Check out the many free tutorials available online as well.

Good luck with your search and career!

You stop learning when you die!
