Subject: V4 to GenX clothes converter?

GrandmaT ( ) posted Sun, 10 December 2017 at 10:26 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 3:40 AM

Does anyone know if there is a quasi-painless way to convert V4(M4) clothing to fit the newer Daz figures? I have invested my grandchildren's inheritance in figures, clothing and props for Generation 4 and would LOVE to be able to move them forward. Any and all suggestions (other than taking out a new mortgage) would be appreciated. Thanks!

There isn't yet an AutoFit clone for Genesis 8, and for Genesis 2 and 3 the clones are not free, but you could use AutoFit to convert the clothing to Genesis and then to convert that to Genesis 8 - just fit the item to the figure, if it doesn't do so on loading, then select the source figure (Victoria 4 on Genesis, then Genesis on Genesis 8) and optionally the type of clothing. Custom bones will be lost, and some things (especially shoes) convert badly, but many will not be too bad.

Thank you both. I've put the Wear Them All on my wish list. For now I do have a question about Richard's progressive autofit: Do I need to save each iteration before going to the next level and if so How? As I said, I've just started using DS and there is a LOT I don't know.

I would save, File>Save As>Support Assets>Figure/Prop Asset, as a safety precaution but I don't believe it is necessary to do so.

Thank you so much!

I tend to do that with Items I use constantly anyway. I can put those in a directory I don't have to go search for, and save on the autofit time. One other item, and it is sold here, you might want to take a look at. Most of the V4 items are in the Poser Directory. You can generate bulk shortcuts to these with Runtime Links for DS This will allow you to keep the autofitted items and the textures for them in the DAZ library so you don't have to always go chasing things down.
