Subject: How do you delete content in Daz?

angreif ( ) posted Sun, 24 December 2017 at 3:02 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 2:34 AM

I have run out of room on my C drive and have already cleaned out or moved what I can. Since I do not want to go into Daz withdraw this weekend I want to delete some content. What is the cleanest and easy way to do this? I do not want to only remove the link in Daz but the whole item.

To me external HD is the way to go....Save all there...No reason to delete

Thanks Vitachick. All completed renders and uninstalled backup content is saved on my external drive. Plan to buy new primary drive soon and move everything over but for now removal of selected content is only option. Pretty much down to windows, security, anti virus and office. Lots of unused content that will not be missed in the immediate future.

How did you install in the first place? Both DIM and Connect have options to uninstall anything they have installed.

Thanks Richard. In my past experience using uninstall or delete in Daz can have bad results. This goes back possibly to Daz 2 or early 3 but is a lesson that has taught me to be Leary. In this case I got impatient and forged ahead holding my breath. I un-installed some stuff and gave myself breathing room. Between CCleaner and Un-install I have a temporary solution till I get a larger drive.

Up to DS 4.9 there's been no uninstall in DS, just the option to remove the selected files in the content pane (which would of course leave any associated textures and geometry). The old Daz executable installers had (optional) uninstallers, and DIM has always been able to uninstall what it installed (as long as the files were not moved).

If you are just looking for quick stuff to move check out the General and Documentation folders. You can move anything in them to another drive without affecting anything and that General folder can get huge particularly if you bought any video tutorials. In any case, there isn't anything that will effect rendering there.
