Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 21 4:30 pm)
The fixes I found referred to the UI and not render crashes. For that it could have to do with your graphics card ... check to see that is is working properly ... then, I'm afraid the two suggestions I have is to make a report to SM (they are very good about responding) or bypassing that and simply saving all your runtimes (rename the primary download runtime for your current Poser version with a new name) to a separate file ... then un-install and re-install Poser. Don't forget to look up your serial number, write it down and set it aside for the process. I wished I had a better solution for you.

Many thanks, Boni. I think a new install may be the way to go. I'll hunt down my backup discs tomorrow.

Has Windows done an update recently? If so, you might want to re*install your graphic drivers.

Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday
Or the flip side is check if your graphic card software updated. Also check the General Preferences in Poser. Are you trying to re-render a specific scene? It's possible that scene got corrupted when you saved it to your hard drive. Have you tried rendering different scenes?
The dust settled, thinking "what a fine home, at least for now" not realizing that doom would soon be coming in the form of a vacuum cleaner.
Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I haven't tried any of the above... yet. Spent the morning hunting for my backups, to no avail, I might add. :(
Windows hadn't updated in the time period this problem happened, nor was it an old scene I was trying to re-render. Far as I can tell, the graphics card is working fine.
Before I do anything else, I'll try Jules' suggestion. If all else fails, I'll get on to SM and see how I go about getting a new download. If I can at least save my existing Runtimes, things won't be too bad.

Ulli - you're a star! It worked perfectly. Just have to re-attach my old Runtimes and recreate me startup prefs but that's nowt to complain about.
Fantastic stuff, Sir! Many thanks. And thanks, also, to everyone else.

Since yesterday, my Poser Pro 2012 will not render. It crashed out during a "Calculating Subsurface Scattering" and since then, will do anything except render, even when SSS isn't selected. I cleared out the render cache, made my render size smaller, tried rendering a variety of different things, all with the same result. The render appears to begin, then Poser hangs and Windows gives me an ever so helpful message "Poser has stopped responding, nah nah nah... please go and boil your head", or similar.
Computer is a Win7 Professional 64 bit with 8GB Ram, Poser is Poser Pro 2012 64 bit. For the record, the 32 bit version does exactly the same.
Any advice?
