I don't know how improved this version is in comparison to when it originally was released. The earlier versions were terrible, horribly distorted the mesh beyond useable. Some individuals have mastered its use and have produced amazing likeness', but, I believe that there is a steep curve to learning the software. This app is most applicable to replicating a 2D photo image to a 3D product. You must have the appropriate photo to successfully convert the transformation. You would be better off with morph sets.

I think you're confusing this with Faceshop that was sold at DAZ years ago. I had that program when I first started 3D and the results left much to be desired.
It's good I used it before (FaceGen) and still have it...somewhere DVD maybe .but if you want better results hi res pics front facial and a hi res side profile make it even better (from the same photo shoot and same lighting if possible) and then matching the figures body texture to the head texture as in the shade of the skin , don't know if it now also supports G8 though. Havent used it since G3 and before days But if you need some celebrities real quick for a render Or just want to create yourself or a friend it's good it does what it says. A good morph and head set would be the ones for G8 the body morph set and the head morph set. Because you can create your own and save it coupled with zbrush or even zbrush core since it also imports and exports obj so if that's all you want it for then it's a win (you just can't export any textures you created in it) but for morphs its good (no goZ though) you have to do it the old fashion way or rather the way before GoZ made things easy .So you can use the dials on your figure then export the obj to reshape her/him in Zbrush Core even further then export it out adjust stuff in studio and done. That's the affordable way The other way is Get Zbrush (full version) And go buck wild. :)

Hmmm, I am wondering if Blender would accomplish the same and its free?

Yes ,my answer got too damn long to write down all the different ways ,there's many ways to get it done even without purchasing FaceGen but as long as you get the idea then your good .use what you have or can afford or know.

@ Male_M3dia: Now that you mention it, you're absolutely correct, I did confuse the two products. Facegen is the better product of the 2, although, the version I have is very old and didn't have the option of creating morphs for the V4 mesh at the time. My bad.
hborre you know how we (well me anyway) did it back then, the painful way..lol export the obj head and all the expressions, load the head and scaled it down it fit V4 then exported it out noting down the exact percentage it was scaled down then loaded it again and did the replace body part with object thing...then loaded each OBJ (the expressions) one by one scaling them down to the same exact size of the head OBJ, doing the same export it out, then loading them as morphs..too much damn work but it worked though.. this was done not in/for studio though but the other program

Your reply was not too long, I am a newbie and still learning the ways. Thanks!

Has anyone tried the daz face genDaz Link ? I am wanting to create my own faces for both g8f and g8m...and wondering if this would be the best route?
