So I purchased this today and I'm not getting it to work as shown in the picture

They show one of the gloves being able to disappear while still having the hand appear. When I click the eye under "scene" regarding the glove, his entire arms are gone and I can't even click on them with the cursor. As if they are wiped away completely. Also, in some of those, his jewels/stones are appearing with some being black and other a variation of colors. That does not happen, as there are not materials or options to have this. Just straight metal gloves

Am I doing something wrong here or is his picture just flat out lying?

I don't have this set but it is optimized for iRay so, may be, in preview mode or renders in 3Delight the colors are different.

For the hiding of the gloves, try a right click on the arm and choose: Select gloves and then delete gloves. I'm at work so I'm not able to check it but give it a try.

I don't have this, but it looks like from the readme that the gloves are a separate figure, so I would first make sure you are selecting the ARMS for the Glove and not for the figure itself. If you chose the figure by accident the figure, the arms would disappear as you mention.

I would expect that if you are selecting and hiding the glove only on the correct arm, on the glove figure, that it should work. If not, maybe check the Surfaces tab (for the glove figure), and see if there is a right/left glove surface that you can drop the Opacity or Cutout Opacity (iray materials) to hide the other glove.

He is using Geo Graft for that. I myself hate this.

This is what you are going to have to do, for the Genesis 3 and Genesis 8. I use the Genesis 8 .dsf file here as an example.

Navigate to:

[your runtime]/data/Sixus1/GalacticTyrant_G8/GalacticTyrantGloves

The file that you want to edit is Gloves_25290.dsf (make a copy of it, in case you make an editing mistake)

Run a text editor, I use Notepad++, and load the file. Then search for the following section and delete it and save the file.

You can then hide and unhide as you normally do, obviously.

As far as the stones you can use the free Car paint presets under DAZ Uber. You can applye "Car Paint - Red - Large Flakes" and then change the color for each of the stones in the gauntlet.

Since the promos show him with one glove off and one glove on I'd contact the vendor and point out there is a bug. There is no way to apply only one glove. Since one of the promo shots does have one glove off and one glove on that needs to be fixed. I hate so see "false advertising" in a subject when it is probably just something that got overlooked since nothing in the specifics of the ad or readme indicate it would be possible. It was probably just an oversight.

This is not a bug that needs fixing, this is what some vendors have opted to do to combat poke-through. This is not the first time this has been done. The reason that I can bring you this fix is because it was taught to me two-years ago because of a similar situation with a product I had purchased.

The end-user-friendly way vendors should handle poke-through would be thru the opacity channel using an opacity map. In this way we, the end-user, can easily make our own changes.

The problem is there are two pictures in the promo shots that show him with one glove off and the hand showing. I don't see any way to do those pictures with the product as it is without hand editing that file. I have the product, the gloves can't be added singly. Unless I'm missing something about the product, either the promo shots are wrong or there is a product bug. Here's the pictures in question:

You can call that false advertising and make the case to Sixus1 or you can edit the file, which is so easy, as many have done, and be done with it. It's up to you.

I wasn't calling it false advertising. I was calling it a bug. Sixus1 usually puts out some pretty stunning products, I own a number of them. They fell a little short on this one simply because it doesn't match up to the promos. There are three reviews on the product, and all of them are mentioning the problem with the glove. You can't expect your customers to hand edit a .dsf file to get your product to work as indicated in the promo's. I also don't personally care if you can't only use one glove. I wasn't planning on doing any Micheal Jackson Galactic Tyrant scenes ;)

I like him either way. He's a pretty versatile character.
