Subject: Trees Needed

Hi, Have ben a user for years but my old Vue stopped effectively working on my PCs and nothing I or support did could get it to run. I tried a demo early last year and it had issues and didnt open any of my purchased content. I have kept checking and now the eon site is redone and the new sub model. Considering my old assets useless I deleted them. Found a couple of them on a remote drive but they wont open in the demo because they are locked to my old version. As I had previously gotten a download for my old purchases and have bothered support enough I wont ask anything more of them except...I have asked for my key to be able to use those couple assets in a new Vue. So here is my question. Since I have almost no plants at present and in the demo For someone who is renting the new Vue does it have alot of trees, spec Pines? Would I w/ a key be able to use my old purchases in the new Vue? I cant buy many of the veges on other sites because they need other plants which i no longer have access to, so other than Asilefx which i know are there any other good sites to buy plants for Vue? Thanks

In principle it is quite easy. If you want to use your old content that is locked to your old license in the new Vue, you go there to "help/Legacy Content Compatibility", copy the code displayed there, send it to support@e-onsoftware.com and get a key file back that you read in into Vue in the same menu (help/Legacy Content Compatibility). And are done.

A bit more of a problem, but it can be solved, is when you saw Cornucopia3D as a free cloud service, where your content is stored forever and you downloaded it only when you needed it. Then you have to contact support@e-onsoftware.com as well to see what can be done. And again, it can be solved.

Actually, I didnt see them as a free cloud service. I had all my purchases on a remote drive safe and secure. My Vue2014 developed serious issues and working w/ support didnt fix it. It came to a point where I was spending too much time trying to find a fix. In frustration I deleted my Vue and the content and let it rest for months. On a lark I ran across an old remote drive that had Vue on it and gave it a try, Corn3d was kind enough to let me redownload the content even tho the website was gone. But as before the content would not open in the reinstalled 2014. I tried the demo and same thing, no helpfull error msg just a msg that it couldnt open it. They gave up and I gave up.

But I was still checking the website to see if it would ever come back and thats when I caught that E-on's new site was up w/ a new pricing. So, am giving the new demo a try. I had also found a couple of the old trees on that remote drive so I tested. That's when I got a second msg to go to the 'help' and request etc. That is the first and only indication that my assets were not authorised for the vue I was using. I'm going to think that the reason they didnt work with my 2014 is that the authorisation process became corrupted somehow. There is a 'help' on my menu bar in Vue demo but nothing that adresses legacy unlocking, nor is there anything on my acct page at their site. I have emailed them asking but I wont hold my breathe. My requests to get the demo using my registered email did nothing. I actually had to create a new email acct.

So THATS why i'm searching for alt sources of trees, spec pines. Anything that depends on another plant I cant use because I wont have access to that plant. basically all I want Vue for at this point is to render terrains I create in World Creator and Builder, but I do need trees. I love the Asilefx site but many of the plants have dependencies and it isnt detailed which ones. Anyway, thanks for the answer

Thx Greymom, I had forgotten, and they offer free samples to, will see what they have. now if I can find something to work in the ecosystem. Its just really odd that trees that are locked to a license wont work with that license, something is broken. I didnt get a response the last request I made so dont expect one this time.

Some of my purchased Cornucopia3D items stopped working. I sent them an e-mail and I received an amazingly prompt reply with a code to enter into the new Vue. I was truly impressed with the quickness of the reply.

The principle "locked to my license" is quite simple. It means that items you purchased are locked to a Vue license directly. That explains directly that they can NOT work in trial versions - and especially not in versions owned by somebody else. The "somebody else" can be you of course too, when you have more than one account at e-on, as for example I have it (to separate my business activities from my private ones).

Special cases are upgrades. As long as they go back to one root (one license you have purchased originally and then upgraded by buying upgrades, then the lock to the original license will still work. If you bought a complete new license instead, then not - as long as you have not registered this new license at e-on and as long as you have not re-downloaded the content then so that the lock knows about the new license. What people do not understand, the case "switching from the Artist line (Pioneer, Esprit, Studio, Complete) to the Pro Line (or vice versa) in NOT an upgrade and therefore the content will not work directly in these new licenses. As said above, these new licenses need to be registered and activated first, then the content needs to be re-downloaded, THEN the content will work there too.

With the Legacy Content Compatibility Keys, the new method in the new versions, all this becomes a lot easier of course. No re-downloads anymore. And btw, as far as I know, no "locked to a license" in the new versions anymore, something people easily do oversee.

Ahh, thanks, so cant use my old trees in the demo. Then I need to get the monthly sub and ask them to let me use my trees and redownload them. I will do that if they ever answer me. Appreciate the info
