Ok ... I'm taking the plunge to be a duel-platform user. I have a major problem. I installed Daz/studio 4.10 a while back ... just started to use it yesterday and all of a sudden my OneDrive (windows) is FULL. I've tried transferring everything to my external drive and pretty much nothing happens. I cannot extend my storage on the OneDrive, and I have documents and images I need to be portable ... so I can't move them. I need, unfortunately, a step-by-step on how to fix this. I want to use the program ... I just need to move it to my external drive. So far >>>

• Documents seem to all go to my OneDrive (may be the core of the issue)
• When I move things ... files are empty
• All the (x) files (i.e. overloaded files) are in the OneDrive>Documents>Daz 3D>studio>My Daz Connection>cloud (several files are (x)ed here) AND Documents>Daz 3d>studio>My Library>runtime (which oddly is empty) this is all (x)ed as well.
• Apparently my Onedrive is the default "Documents" destination in my configuration.

I hope all of this helps. I'm rather frustrated as I cannot move images around for my Renderosity work.

Hi Boni, Daz Studio should be installed to your main drive 'program files' folder. Content can be located wherever you choose but likely defaults to that folder in Documents. I would suggest there are two possible ways to fix this issue.

Firstly you could edit the One Drive synced folders and remove any reference to the Daz Content in your Documents folder. 'Documents>Daz 3D>studio>My Daz Connection>cloud " https://support.office.com/en-ie/article/choose-which-onedrive-folders-to-sync-to-your-computer-98b8b011-8b94-419b-aa95-a14ff2415e85

Secondly you could relocate the Daz Content from your documents folder to your external harddrive and modify any download links to the new location such as for DIM or Smart content. Then point DS to the new location via the Content Directory Manager.

The disaster escalated ... So ... I uninstalled DS entirely and content since I never used it on this computer. Relatively new after my other one crashed in me. I will re-install on Monday or Tuesday. I redirected auto load documents to my external drive and pay closer attention on the paths on the install.

Well that didn't work. I'm working on a Windows 10 (64) machine and this is the step-by-step ...

Here is the problem in a process ...

1. I load DS from a fresh install

2. Content slowly starts to populate the files

3. No matter where I direct the files ... they automatically go to my C: Documents folder

4. Documente folder automatically sync's with OneDrive

5. OneDrive overloads.

!!! Now, I don't want content from the core DS to load on my C drive at all, much less my Documents folder. How do I change this and stop this never ending loop? I've deleted my DS3d folder from my Documents folder 5 or 6 times now and tried several fixes in Windows to no avail. Now it's time to consentrate on DS.

When you say direct the files, what do you mean? Are you setting destination folders in DAZ and DIM?

OMG ... I've tried. As I try in DS ... the files fill up the OneDrive while I'm fiddling with Preferences>Content Directory Manager AND now I just downloaded DIM Installations ... All INSIST on the documents folder.

Tried to change it and went back to installation ... and this happened.

Within DIM, see the little plus symbol at the bottom of the settings pane? You need to add the new destination that you want content installed to and then change from "Recommended Daz Studio/Poser Content Folder" on the drop down to whatever you labelled the intended destination.

I wouldn't advise the changes you have attempted above, directing application bases to be installed on an external drive could create further issues and isn't really addressing the issue of the unwanted content in your Documents folder.

I'd say, the first step is turning off One Drive. The capacity is only 5GB (unless you're paying MS for more). I'm sure your library is much larger than that.

Second step, as Razor suggests, is to change your Base Directories back to default locations and put DAZ on your C:/ Drive.

Third step is hashing out where to put your libraries and related DIM data. The Manifest Archive tells DIM what you have installed. It's sort of important. I keep my manifest archive with my Daz documents on the C:Drive. I do have DIM put the Package Archive in the settings Downloads tab on a different drive.

This shouldn't be any sort of ordeal.

In DAZ, your Connect Path should end with /Studio/My Daz Connect Library .eg C:/Users/Torquinox/Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library.

One drive is just Microsoft's way of making sure you use their cloud service the way they used to make sure you used their browser. Apple does the same flipping thing of course. There isn't any reason you have to use one drive at all. Really. I use dropbox. I just don't log into the mothership with my windows 10 machine. As far as DAZ content, the advice you got was correct. You can also move your download directory. Unless you delete all files after install you'll need to, they take up almost as much space as the library.

Ok ... 90% fixed. I redirected all the directories through DIM and content manager. I still get a few "do not exists" and exclamation marks but I'm going through to find out where I've lost those items and it's all pretty good now. I didn't have to re-install DAZ ... and I'm pretty happy with the results so far. Thank you all for your help. Look forward to using DAZ more now.

Finally got rid of that OneDrive. Essentially, it sucked up my files, but then wanted a monthly subscription to "add more space", because I think it starts with 5gb, but also to even let me access the "cloud" storage. Every time the darn thing sucked away my Desktop, and even files I manually stored in "Documents". Now, that's tricky because Windows has 2 paths to store: User, which duh, I thought was right, and Public, which is where the DIM wants to go ----unless you have the OneDrive. That adds yet another 2 paths, plus some other thing I never figured out. A nother forum user told me how to turn off OneDrive. It's pretty easy, if you know where to look. You will find not many people are aware of this exasperating business. I don't use my phone to do digital graphics, so I don't need everything on the cloud. I have 2 1 terabytes drives, which will work whether the Cloud is working or not. You will have to look carefully at the 2 options for path in the DIM. I had to set it 3 times before I got it right. Here's why. Apparently DAZ versions 1-3 and maybe early ones of 4 saved to "My Library" but now the default is "My DAZ Library". It is not easy to unravel. I did a full recover on my machine, but that let the OneDrive start sucking up files before I could change it. So I have Genesis Essentials 2-3, but Genesis 1 is still furshlinger. It is "stored" on a tempory path. Why? I don't know, I used DIM to uninstall, reinstall, so I feel your pain. Turn that darn OneDrive off if you want more control over your content storage.
