Subject: V4 ugly gaps in extreme bendings

Steve_Vaii ( ) posted Wed, 09 October 2019 at 3:28 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 9:37 AM

I know that's a known problem, but I'm always having problems with it and I would like to find a lasting solution. What would you use to eliminate those ugly gaps that arise during extreme bends? Morphing Tool, Magnets, Joint Editor? By the way, do I have to use "Merge All Zones To Weight Maps" before using the Joint Editor? I think I have seen this in a video by Nerd3D, but unfortunately all videos by Nerd3D have been deleted. Thanks for your help!v4_ugly_gaps.png

The closeup is good but could we see a full shot or something lets me know just area of V4 this represents? I use Gen 3 and Gen 4 in my renders so I'm interested in this topic as well.

Is this the weight-map version?

Is this the weight-map version?

And if it is, why not use Sasha-16 instead?

It´s the area between her right thig and hip. This is not the weight mapped version. Thanks for reminding me to Sasha-16, I´ll try the pose with her.

The joint editor works both with old-school zones and with weightmaps. In the joint ediutor you can combine zones for the particulkar deformation mode of a joint to a weight map. 'Merge all joints to weight maps' is a time saver big bang bazooka that does same for all joints and that may be more than you want.

@ FVerbaas Thanks for that explanation! I normally just want to edit the zones, that come with V4, so obviously I don´t have to merge all zones to weight maps for that.

Unfortunately it makes no difference, if I use the original V4 or Sasha-16 (2019 Edition). The bended thig looks exactly the same. I think this problem is caused by voluptuous bodies in combination with a little bit more of bending. Here are the bending settings of the right thig and the full body morphs. TorsoThickness is 1, HipSize 1.5 and FantasiaBody 0.5. If I set them all to 0 everything looks fine. I think I have to learn how to make my own morphs to fix this. There seems to be no other way.v4_right_thig.pngv4_fullbodymorphs.png

Quiet simple to fix these issues! Load the morphing tool and create a Custom morph selecting the full body of V4, use the third brush and the smooth tool ... Paint until you get the desired result , this will fix your issue in no time.

Looks great, thanks for the hint! I will try that and post the result.

Look at this! It took me just 10 Minutes to fix it with the Morphing Tool :) First I smoothed out the transisions with the Smooth Action. Then I used a little bit of the Pull Action and smoothed it with the Smooth Action again. I´m really happy! Of course I knew the Morphing Tool before and used it a lot. But in this case I thought too complicated and focused just on techniques like weight mapping and joint edition. Thank you very much gate!!!v4_thig_ugly_morph.png
