Subject: Face Capture and Motion Capture

flibbits ( ) posted Thu, 28 November 2019 at 10:49 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 10:28 AM

I am once again looking into what's available for animating Genesis 3 and 8 characters.

What's even needed isn't clear.

Does iClone Character Creator 3 animate characters? Can I do motion capture/face capture in there, or does it have to go into iClone?

Are there other ways to animate - especially face and motion capture - for Genesis 3 and 8: Maya maybe?

I can't even tell from the iClone site what is needed and what would be the cost.

Can I export from Character Creator to Unity and then animate and mocap and face cap in there?

Anything new that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Hi,Character creator pipeline 3 imports Genesis 3/8 figure and projects their shapes onto a CC3 avatar that can be sent to iclone for facial and body mocap.

some people have posted examples of using external apps like faceware etc on G8 figures and importing the facial animation back to DS .

I personally have no experience with such workflows however they all involve $expensive$ software.

F-clone 1.12, currently $58. Free trial. Its precision won't satisfy the moaners who expect $1,000 software for $50. But for the price it does the job re: markerless facial motion capture from a standard webcam, and outputs .PZ2 for G3.

I have heard many bad reports from Daz users about fclone. So definitely evaluate the free trial before spending any money!!!
