Subject: Access and Transfer of Poser Software Licence

Retrowave ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 9:50 AM ยท edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 8:39 AM

Hi,

You don't know me (or perhaps you do). I was banned from here some years back. It was for nothing really, cause I had said to them, if you're wanting me out of here, why not just ban me?

Was just being sarcastic to be honest, but to my horror, they actually went ahead and did it! But I've been getting the emails, first about the takeover of Poser by Renderosity (congratulations on that move by the way), and about moving my licence over. Trouble is, I tried to log into my old pumeco account and discovered that it had been messed-up. The email address I used for it was not recognised even though it is my own, so I tried registering another account just to check if my email address really had been freed-up. Well it turns out it had been, cause I just registered this new account (Retrowave) to see if it would work, and it does, it accepted the same email address I used to use for my pumeco account.

So please don't ban this account, I need it to be able to transfer my Poser licence to and I don't know how I'm supposed to do that when my licences, originally registered to pumeco, are now using the same email address for this new Retrowave account. I need it transferring so that I can upgrade. I'm not bothering with Poser 11 at this late stage, but if there happens to be any notable animation improvements in Poser 12, I would definitely be interested in that.

Anyway, I'm pleased to see Renderosity had the sense to land Poser. It's kinda heart-warming to be honest, cause Renderosity always was the biggest supporter of Poser. I think it truly belongs here. My only concern is that they might do what DAZ do, that being to use it as a content seller without updating the program much itself. Hopefully not, but I suppose time will tell, and Poser deserves to do well.

And before anyone starts attacking me, no, I was not responsible for what happened on Reallusion a few years back (if anyone saw it). I had been relentlessly trolled by, and sent physical death threats by, Jews (or someone wanting me to think they were Jews). The whole matter got completely out of hand because I became paranoid, trying to hide it from my family, and not knowing who is behind it. The whole matter has caused serious damage, far beyond what people would be able to effectively comprehend.

While I feel sure I will never be able to sort things out with Reallusion (which is very unfortunate as I intended on becoming a vendor there), I am also sure that the person/s responsible will be caught eventually, and when they are, I cannot wait to see what the law serves them!

Anyway, if a moderator on here could let me know how to sort my account and transfer my Poser licence to here, I would really appreciate it.

Why not write a trouble ticket to the Poser people at Poser support. I'm sure they will be glad to straighten everything out.

Thanks, but not much point really now I posted it here.

ThunderStone ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 10:25 AM

If you don't want to resolve the matter, why even post it here? If you just want to rant and rave, you could have done it on Facebook or some other social media. If you really wanted help, you could do what was suggested, since support will hardly ever read what is posted in the forum.

Sometimes, I wonder if people really wanted help or just like being long-winded sarcastic.

Both my original post and my reply to you were polite, so you sound as if you are trying to cause a disturbance. Again, thanks for the link, but as it is already posted here and a mod will see it, there is no point in using the link. I don't even have the serial numbers needed to fill that form out.

Afrodite-Ohki ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 10:49 AM

The point is, you will reach the correct people more easily through a support ticket. Mods are here to keep the community working well - you need a support worker. A support ticket will reach them directly.

I'll give it a go but I get the feeling it won't submit without a serial number.

Retrowave ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 11:04 AM

I just tried it, it looked promising at first, but the "Description" part of the form where we are meant describe things, will not accept any text input, it's like that whole box is unselectable.

Hmmm might be a bug in the site.

I'd advise you to contact (via sitemail here) jennblake about it then.

I just gotta face it, I ain't welcome here, even the site hates me ๐Ÿ˜

No worries, and no rush, they've not started talking Poser 12 yet anyway, and as long as it's sorted by then, I don't suppose it matters anyway. Thanks for the help though.

Cheers, structure, much appreciated, and no worries on the time-frame. Leave it until after Christmas if you wish.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Hi, Pumeco. Long time no hear from. What version of Poser are you using now?

Retrowave ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 6:37 PM ยท edited Sat, 21 December 2019 at 6:45 PM

Hey Clarkie, nice to hear from you!

Can't remember to be honest, so I'm hoping they'll just pull the licences up from my old SM account or whatever. I know I have four licences for Poser in total, although two of those are so old they were not part of my SM account anyway.

  • POSER 3 - But likely irrelevant
  • POSER 5 - But likely irrelevant
  • POSER PRO 20XX - It was the PRO version just before the Roxie version I think.
  • POSER 10 - Not the PRO version but was the first version to include Roxie.

That's it as far as Poser licences go, not the most up to date, but I think the latter two would likely entitle me to upgrade pricing when POSER 12 arrives.

BTW, congratulations on the Poser Content Directory site, must keep you seriously busy in the update department, though ๐Ÿ˜

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sat, 21 December 2019 at 7:03 PM

Okay, well here's the problem. Anything BEFORE 2014 Game Dev will not be switched over to Renderosity. Anything older than Game Dev will likely need for you to purchase an upgrade to Poser 11. Otherwise, you should be good and Poser will keep working as always.

Retrowave ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2019 at 3:47 AM

Oh I know the old one would still work (due to it not being one of the effected releases), but I cannot access it since the latest version I used to use (POSER 10), relied upon that weird SM downloader/updater thingummy. Never bothered to back-up the files because I figured that as it's covered by the SM updater, all I would need to do in the event of needing a new installation, is download the latest version using that system.

Trouble is, while I got the emails some time ago, I only just bothered reading them. I no longer have access to my serial number, haven't a clue what it is, so I'm hoping that they could pull it up from my SM account somehow and make my new Retrowave account here, aware that I have one. Otherwise I lose access to my POSER licence and would have no way of qualifying for upgrade pricing when POSER 12 arrives, because it is neither listed in my account, and I no longer have the serial number.

Other than myself, only SM knows that I genuinely have such a licence, so I'm hoping they can use their access to SM licence information to update this new account with mine.

prixat ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2019 at 6:18 AM

If you still have the downloader installed, look in it's subfolders, all the actual installers are in there somewhere, you can run them "manually".

prixat

Cheers, Prixat, but unfortunately I don't. I had to buy a new laptop and don't even have my serial.

Well you expect that, don't you, to open-up your new laptop on Christmas and discover that some tit has sent the wrong model!

Thought I'd finally be able to play with Poser again today, but nah, the model they sent has one of those crappy displays that change hue and brightness as you move your head around. All the rest of the spec is correct as far as I can tell, but it's supposed to have an IPS display!

Ah well, I suppose it's a blessing in disguise really, I think I'll return it and build a new Desktop PC instead. Seriously though, I'm amazed these types of displays are still manufactured, they're absolutely hopeless and I'm shocked HP are using them on any model, never mind their "Probook" models which is what this thing is labelled as!

INSERT GROAN HERE

Anyway, smells like the ready-made Christmas Dinner is nearly cooked, and at least they're ok as long as you put some Coleman's Mint Sauce on them, so at least something is going right ๐Ÿ˜„
