Subject: Poser 11 Pro gurus... I need help exporting an obj file

PenelopeFlynn ( ) posted Fri, 13 March 2020 at 4:26 PM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 7:14 AM

I am needing to export a character in .obj to use in another 3D application. I have been successful in exporting the figure BUT not so successful with any of the materials and textures. How can I export to obj with everything intact? I am a writer, not a techie so PLEASE bear that in mind when you explain.

Your .OBJ export should also have a .MTL file alongside it. Open the .MTL with Notepad, and check what the file paths to the materials are. I could be that you need to do something as simple as copying the materials out of a sub-folder, and then paste them alongside the .OBJ itself.

This is a LOT more difficult than I thought. Is there a program than can do this conversion?

To collect everything at once you can use an included script. This will export the.obj and associated textures into a folder of your choosing.

Thank you. I will try this!

Does the other application support FBX format? It has more options for import/export than obj format.

Unfortunately it doesn't support FBX. That was my first thought. Thank you.
