I want to use g3 & g8 poses on V4 - is there a way to convert these poses over to V4 ?

You will need to import them from DAZStudio first, most likely through DSON, and attempt to apply to V4. However, there are a number of DAZ scripts, for purchase, that convert the poses in DS and then you would need to import the V4 poses into Poser.

However, you must be aware that the poses never will convert 1:1

This is due to different joint centres, limbs/torso length, and other factors. So you will always need to somewhat fix the poses.

I know this isn't much of a consolation--

but even poses made for the SAME base figure will work differently, depending on the dialed-in morphs/characters.

Just imagine a pose made for a short fat man with his hands resting on his thighs while sitting.

Now apply the same pose to a tall thin man, and you'll see what this is about.

Thanks for the info it will help a lot. Adam W. over at Most always makes poses for V4 & G3-8 figures might have to contact him to see what goes. I'll make 'em work one way or another. Thanks for the help.

You can convert G3F poses to G2F using a fan-written utility in DS (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/137491/converting-g3-poses-to-g2-it-works/p1), and then export those to Poser using the Poser Format Exporter utility (https://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/6869/). You then apply them in Poser using DSON. This conversion is time consuming and a PITA (you have to individually name in the export utility and point to the folder for every individual exported pose, and then you have to apply the pose to a figure in Poser and re-save it so you get an icon image), so you REALLY have to want those particular poses. I've gone to the trouble, for example, for i13's daily activity poses for G3F. Genesis 2 poses are close to the Rosetta Stone of poses. They work well with almost any figure, including V4, La Femme, Pauline, PE, Loretta LoRez, and Dawn (plus the analogous male figures) . I have never explored converting G8 poses because they are almost always G3 re-treads.

It helps to make a master dial in your target figure that when dialled to 'on' setting (typically 1.0) makes it stand like your source figure's zero pose, so same angle of limbs etc. If you apply that and your source pose, it may save you time tweaking.
