Subject: Standing embracing poses for Genesis 8 not working

tuxedomask ( ) posted Fri, 19 June 2020 at 10:05 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 9:51 PM

I recently purchased Standing embracing poses for Genesis 8 from DAZ 3D .I installed it and tried to use the poses which were all showing up as installed in DAZ Studio 4.10. When I tried to implement the pose I got an error message and that I should refer to the log file in DAZ studio for more information as to why this error had occured .I accessed the log file but there was no info referring to the pose file which did not execute .I did notice that the icon in the pose folder for these poses had the word script written on it and not the word Pose which all the other files in my pose folder did. It is a little disappointing that I sent DAZ 3D an email regarding this one week ago and have not heard from them .

I noticed this on their website for the product:

"Notes: This product includes scripts to apply the poses. In order to use the scripts, have BOTH relevant figures (Genesis 8 Male or Female) selected in the Scene Pane and then double-click the desired "Pose." The dialog box that appears will allow you also to mirror the pose, include/exclude the figures' expressions, or only apply partial (lower/upper body) poses. If you choose to let the script also group the figures for you, the first figure you select will determine the final position/orientation of the grouped figures. The script will also work when a single figure is selected, allowing you to specify which pose to use from the pair."

Did you follow those instructions?

Thank you for your response .I didn't notice this .I do not have a lot of experience with DAZ Studio I am more familiar with Poser .So for me it is a slow learning curve when it comes to DAZ. I will do as suggested in the "Notes" . Once I have tried this I will post a response as to whether I was successful or not . Thanks .

Yes I have now followed those instructions and it still does not work . All I get is a dialog box which says Error opening file .Should I try reinstalling it , in the hope that what ever files are a problem will be overwritten ? Or should I delete these files from DAZ Studio and then do a fresh install of the problem files ..

How did you install the script initially? I usually use DIM for installing DAZ Content. I am interested in your approach.

I went into DAZ studio and installed from DAZ Studio updates/shop/account. It lists new software in the content folder that needs to be installed .I just double clicked the icon for the software and it started installing it .All other purchases installed correctly using this method with the exception of the poses add on . I'll try and install the poses add on using Dim .

Upon further investigation I noticed the the pose files are encrypted. So this would mean that the files cannot be opened because they are encrypted , unless the files are decrypted first and then installed in DAZ Studio. This would or should I say could be the problem .
