Hmmm, that's interesting, because the majority of my renders are with SuperFly, and I've numerous times used the GPU without any issues.
My only issue was the older P11.2 didn't recognize the RTX and newest GTX GPUs. Once P11.3 came out, that issue had been addressed.

Echoing Miss B, I have a GTX 1060 on 6GB, even in 12GB of RAM, I never had a problem doing Superfly renders. Now getting 'fast' renders may be an issue.

Interesting - conflicting replies, doesn't make it easy to decide if I am going to drop $AUD 450 on a new video card.
Any other suggestions then for an alternative?

I am not expecting Superfly to be blistering fast.

I've recently bought a GTX 1660 and with Poser Pro 11.3.818 I've found my renders in superfly have been much much faster so far. when compared to superfly renders with my GTX 960.
I may be an outlier here as I've read that Turing based cards render slower.
That seals it then - that's good enough for me - a GTX 1660 it is then

FYI: Did some tests and apparently the scene I was trying to render in SF took up to much GPU memory. Even though the scene is only 200 MB I would keep getting a "Out of device or host mapped memory". Error would flash by so fast I didn't see it. Sadly no errors in poser log files or system error logs to indicate there was a problem. So after a little research this appears to be a GPU error. So I guess 6 GB of video memory isn't large enough for a GPU render of my scene.

I don't have an issue with rendering with SuperFly, but I don't usually have more than one or two characters in my scenes, and the "background" is often an HDRi image, which isn't as "weighty" as having all the objects in a scene.
The only time I find SuperFly slow-ish, is when I'm rendering an up close render of a character with a lot of long hair. Hair textures, expecially transparencies, take up a lot of render time. One of these days I'll figure out better settings for those kinds of renders.

The settings can have great influence on performance. When using Superfly in GPU do for example not check 'branches path tracing' or you will have to wait forever.
Very true. In fact, I leave it unchecked all the time, even if I happen to be rendering in CPU. It just chokes up the render time.

Superfly is based on Blender Cycles renderer. Branched Path Tracing in Cycles is not fully developed, but it does come in handy if you render materials with caustics, like glass. That's about it. It was supposed to reduce fireflies and noise in a render if there were lots of glossy materials with transparencies, like glass materials. But Cycles has no less than 3 different ways to reduce noise in a scene now, and with GPU AI denoising, noisy renders are no longer an issue. I would only use branched path if you want or need nice caustics rendered in the scene. Otherwise, always keep it turned off. Renders will take longer with it on.

One workaround is to reduce any 4k textures used down to 2k. I've done this with several building props including the Chroft Apartment and Parkside collections from DAZ. I back up the original folder and resize all the textures to 50%. Only you can decide which textures you can sacrifice the quality.
