I think the first thing is to decide on a brand name, and then you can build a logo. I don't now if it's necessary to have the brand name as part of the logo, but sometimes it will give you ideas.

Well from what I have seen here most of the stores names are based on their user ID which mine would be Lobo3433 that is what pretty much everyone knows me by some of it can be pretty confusing but thanks for your input Miss B

Hey Lobo, I agree with Miss B. Decide on a name first then work on the design. Don't confine yourself to using your Lobo3433 site name as this might be to limiting if you plan to expand into different marketplaces down the road. For example I sell models at various brokerage sites but I also do work with real estate agents with virtual staging with 3D models and I also freelance with Photoshop in a whole range of areas. With everything that I do I trade primarily under the name "Mesh Manglers" here and elsewhere. To help the brainstorming juices flow here are a couple of sites that can help to generate ideas for a business name.

I took a class in logo design some decades ago, and the best advice from that class was this --
Get a sheet of paper and a black sharpie pen. Sketch out quickly as many postage-stamp-sized designs as you can think of. Doesn't matter if you think the idea is crap before it leaves your brain -- DRAW IT ANYWAY.
After you've got a page of crappy thumbnails, you'll have a much better idea of what you want your logo to be.

The only thing I will add to what has been suggested already is no matter what you do, try to keep the logo design simple. Simple in terms of shape and colors. Some of the world's most recognizable logos only have around 3 different primary colors in them. Of course, it needs to be eyecatching and identifiable as well, but the more simple the design, the faster people will recognize it, and also the easier it will be for you to reproduce it where you need it. A logo will come in very handy for watermarking your products, and in some cases, this will require a transparent gif or PNG version of the file.

Keep it simple. Some of the best logos look like they took little to no effort to make. (I heart NY) Thats's the artistry of design. Think in terms of high contrast of positive and negative space, it will help with legibility in different sizes and placement. Personally, I start the process in black and white and add color after the most of the forms are determined. Just stick with the elements and principles of design and you will be on the right track.
Thanks for all the advice I am narrowing and hammering down on a name and then from there trying to imagine something catchy to relate to it appreciate all your inputs

May I ask what you need the logo FOR? Generally, most logos I've seen have some kind of tie in to whatever it is the business or entity is trying to promote. You do want to keep it simple in design to make it easily recognizable, but you also want it to be distinct because you don't want it confused with another product or business.

It is for myself EClark I did become a vendor here at Renderosity and have jumped with out having somethings in place like a logo or brand to market myself and I hope to expand and more products here soon both for Blender and Poser primarily. I took on this venture for numerous personal reasons and really need to give it my best effort

You can have the spinning logo or the flaming logo, the wolf logo or the dragon logo.

I've worked as a graphic designer and studied this for several years ... here is my input for what it's worth:
- Find a name you like
- If Lobo is it ... a timber wolf would be a possibility (I actually have a pen/ink of a wolf that a client didn't use if you want to see it)
- A motif and color scheme that makes your brand consistent.
- A byline ... short descriptive phrase that lets folks know what your "style" is.
There are other things, but I thought this list might help.
Thanks Boni

I am hitting wall but I am been currently trying to come up with a logo, brand that I can use for marketing I have never really thought of the concept have used the same name on my few shared pieces of art and but I am hoping to venture further out from my comfort zone and seems logos and creating a brand that will reflect me and the things I hope to make and such has never crossed my mind. I have been looking at design resources like templates and such but weeding things down has been frustrating and I am hoping that those who are members here might have some advice or knowledge they can share to give me some firmer footing in accomplishing this.
Thanks in advance
