Subject: Is there a tutorial for Poser users trying to learn Daz Studio?

gwp ( ) posted Wed, 23 September 2020 at 7:08 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 8:24 PM

I have been using Poser for many years but would like to be able to use the Genesis 8 characters that Daz has developed. I am therefore trying to learn Daz Studio but I find the interface completely alien to everything I have been doing in Poser for so long. I am used to moving around the scene or selecting characters or body parts using the mouse, and now it seems I have to go to various panels and scroll down through long lists of options before I can do anything. The quality of the images is very good, but trying to produce them is very, very frustrating. And finding anything in the Content Library is difficult and time-consuming. That is why I am wondering if there is a tutorial that will ease the transition from Poser to Daz Studio. I have two secret dreams (1) that someone would make a version of Daz Studio that is controlled by the Power interface, or (2) that a new version of Poser comes along that enables the use of Genesis 8 figures without any complicated conversion process. But until one of these unlikely things happens, I need to learn how to use Daz Studio more effectively.

Youtube has many tutorials on DAZStudio. That is, perhaps, the best place to start.

There are good tutorials at Daz3d which are very helpful.

Thanks, but I was hoping that someone had written a tutorial for experienced Poser users rather than for complete newcomers to 3D. I want to start creating scenes and rendering rather than spending hours watching tutorials, but I guess I will have to.

I have not come across a tutorial such as that. I used poser for quite a few years before I started with DS and I really liked the tutorials because it got me used to the Interface and the tabs. Even so, I used Poser for years, it was quite new to use DS and that is why I started with the beginner tutorials for the above reasons.

That's why I recommended youtube. There are numerous, more advanced tutorials if you narrow your search criteria. Otherwise, you'll be scroll through endless posts.
