Subject: Shaderworks Scripts

is there anyplace I can get ShaderWorks Library Manager 2?

wimvdb ( ) posted Tue, 05 December 2017 at 4:35 PM

Shaderworks sold at Runtime DNA. When that store closed, the products were not moved to another store and Shaderworks decided to stop due to lack of time.

Gah, I really wanted it too....

I wish SM would buy those scripts from him, as they are valuable tools...

I wish Smith Micro would incorporate his many ideas directly in to Poser. It wouldn't be like stepping on anyone's toes at this point.

A great collection of Pyton scripts that are getting lost with the new Poser , if it were only the Library Manager 2 we might be able to live with it. but now since SM gave over Poser to Bondware it blows a neat collection of most awesome Poser Extension !

there might be some hope that at least some Netherworks Studios Pytons @hivewire3d will be adapted to work in the poser 12 release, or the great collections from Dimension3D that sure are helpful tools for Poser model creators !

Online Now!

Dimension3D has passed away some time ago. If his estate gives someone else permission to update those scripts then we will see those in Poser 12. Otherwise, only his standalone software will be available to us.

Ok this was confusing as I thought to know about this terrible loss ! and then noted that He's creations are still sold here so I was confused for a moment thinking it might of concerned someone else " Thank you for clarifying "

Well in some cases Pytons can be adapted had to do it a few times to get older versions working in Poser 11.1 but this would not solve any issues as there just for personal use and could not be redistributed . So Poser 12 will for sure have a very hard Path getting good pytons for the future as most creators are just gone, to get new creators will sure be a difficult task if not impossible with the actual situation.

I agree with Azath, breaking compatibility for Python scripts was not a smart move. The creators of the most useful and great Python add-ons have either passed away or are out of business since years... i tried to decompile some of the big add-ons but had no success. Not to mention that the DSON importer won't work anymore either.

IIRC, the Dimension 3d scripts will be updated by Renderosity itself. They have the permission from the estate.

That is good news Bantha. Now if someone could update all of Netherworks' goodies, I'd be a very happy person. Since moving on to a full time job, he's been using Maya the past couple/three years, so his scripts have been languishing for a long time.

I think There was a tutorial at the time made by Netherworks him self on RDNA how to update he's Pytons to work with Poser 11 and further , I used it but do not remember where I placed it, it was very helpful as I collected almost every release that came out for my work .

Well that might be a good thing unless they charge again the full Price on them, that would be quiet a fortune ! or worse start adding call home features into the Pytons. On my side I'll wait until they chill down with this activation system to be 100% sure not getting a bad surprise ( Learning from mistakes ) well actually what Larry Weinberg said on the Interviews with Poser Dev Team in August 2019.

I looked into my archives it was back in Mai 2013 when there was a major Pyton change and PP2014 came out as most pytons did not work right Upgrading from Poser 9 to 2014 ! It is when Netherworks mentioned how to do it your self until he upgrades them him self in a thread at RDNA. the same method worked when Poser 11 came out , I recall the thread about the V4 Butt issue that took SM about 3 weeks to fix with the Magnets conflict back then. RDNA also had a thread on how to fix this issue manually before SM did. That was the last time I saw and used the Pyton Fix , not long before RDNA got taken down from DAZ .

It would sure be nice for script source code to be held "in trust" for the community. Kind of a middle ground between open source and closed. Essentially "closed as long as I'm still actively developing/selling the code".
